Did MSFS just go Hollywood? - Seen on Magnum P.I

Dec 11th 2020 Episode of Magnum P.I. had Higgins and Magnum flying aircraft in a flight sim - She has to hone up her skills as a pilot, flying a biz jet - Was quite hilarious … crash!

Didn’t look quite right, but I thought Magnum P.I. and Hawaii 5.0. were sponsored by Microsoft.

“It’s an advanced Flight Simulator” Don’t call it a video game …

pic of a tv screen. not great.

Magnum PI featured a Hughes 500 helicopter so without a helicopter we are not even close to Magnum PI.!. A bit like the reboot of MSFS there is not a helicopter.

It’s called “Product Placement.” Not only can a company pay for a commercial slot, but they can also pay to have their product featured in the script. A couple of seasons back, NCIS LA featured MS Surface tablets prominently in every episode. Even when someone gets a can of soda out of the fridge, if it has a name-brand label, then that brand owner paid a fee. Otherwise, you’d see a generic look-alike with a name like “Soda” or “Drink” on the side of the can.

Since CBS is a major (as in MAJOR) sponsor for the CBS network, if they say write our product into the script, the writers find a way to put it in.

Good spot! Interesting show for the placement but hey, still pretty cool :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t like the new Magnum P.I. but was channel flipping and happened to catch that scene. Interesting, but silly. I mean who has dedicated yoke hardware and runs MSFS on a laptop…

I actually watch Magnum P.I. some evenings. But it’s the real one with the Ferrari, Hughes 500, and Tom Selleck before he became a loan salesman.

My trusty X52 never leaves my desk and I’m running an Asus laptop connected to a second monitor. The Asus acts as a secondary monitor.
