Disable "Check for updates"?

Sadly, it was not the solution for me, although the ‘stuck on updates’ has been reduced from 5 minutes to 3.

Very interesting, so we have THIRD solution now… :+1:

Perhaps the update server was down or slow to respond ?

In general, I find that the “check update” is very slow for what it does. It should literally take only a few dozens of ms, not 10 seconds.

I think the time FS2020 takes to get to the main menu is too long. hope they improve that someday.

Don’t forget that the computer has to go through gigabytes of data to start up the game, load a flight, load the menu, and get server data! Lots of stuff for a computer to do.

Also make sure you don’t start the game as son as you start the comp, as it needs to warm up. Also try a run as admin since that adds priority to the app so it should go faster.

If you want to start the sim without the update check, just disconnect the network. I got into a bad CTD loop a while back and disconnecting the network let the sim get past that and I reconnected after I was sitting on tarmac. But side effect was it couldn’t check for or install any updates.

As for taking a long time to check for updates, some folks load every mod they can find and all that extra stuff to check through slows FS2020 way down. You might try moving everything out of community temporarily just to see how much it affects you.

Also, if FS2020 is on a spinning drive, that’s brutal when inventorying gigabytes of data. Leave it to Microsoft to do a very slow process every time you start the sim instead of storing state. Even SATA SSDs are somewhat slow. If you can, consider an m.2 drive.

It randomly started taking a very long time with me now too. Over 10 minutes sometimes.

A windows update came through, but that was the only thing that has changed.

I don’t mind update checking, that’s the nature of how this sim works, but a simple check on version numbers should do the trick no?

15 minutes and still waiting. Alt F4’d it, again.

It appears they moved the “Community Folder Loading” from the first/second splash screen to this screen now with the last sim update. When you see this it is scanning and loading your files in the community folder. Depending on the size AND how many folders are in there it can take from a few seconds to 20 min or more if you have the big city replacement mods and addon airports not purchased via the marketplace. It is normal, let it finish or reduce the files in your community folder.
