Weather data was (is) available in the box from the very start, and working in some regions (as discussed ad nauseam already elsewhere).
The fact that it is not working in all regions (in the game) indicates that it might not be so simple as you may think: after all, we are talking about a weather system for the entire globe (that‘s a first in a computer game simulation, IIRC) and that data must be „sync‘ed“ in time into the various servers across the globe and all FS2020 clients in the end. As a software engineer myself I can think about a gazillion things that can go wrong between here and there… (and yes, it may also be a trivial „number format parsing error“ somewhere…)
You just found a fix for the issue didn’t you? This forum is huge, if it’s not working/installing for you I’d just take a breath, browse the forums & see if you can find an answer. More than likely you’re not the only one experiencing whatever it is your experiencing in the sim.
I am still on 1.7.12.0 with the game pass version of MSFS.
There was no update patch downloading this morning.
I used the Repair option but still stay on 1.7.12.0 after a restart of the sim.
I was lucky that when I first installed this game I had minimal issues. Now I’ve re-installed it it’s been a massive pain in the rear. But… after browsing the forum I found the answer and it’s looking good so far. Thank god for those people who know what they’re doing and find these amazing solutions for us.
Just to post this as an official issue…
Steam version. I’ve been having an issue where MFS stops responding. When I launch the game, it seems to run okay. All the splash-screens play properly. I press some random button on the “press any button to start”, and the game starts to load. I see the “loading circle” on the bottom right, which spins for a few seconds before going away. The page then displays “welcome, set your experience” at the top, however at this point the program stops responding. When looking at task manager, the process “FlightSimulator” displays as not responding. I have waited for over 20 minutes for it to load, but it doesn’t. I have been able to launch MFS as recently as a week ago, before the latest patch went live. This issue did not occur then, so I’m thinking that the patch must have done something. I do not have any mods. All the programs installed in the Microsoft store are up to date. I have closed all 3rd party programs that could interfere with the game.
It’s a real shame that the game (Sorry, sim!) can’t just install like every other game. Really hoped all the problems that people were having would have gone away today with the update… but obviously not
The only option is to uninstall the sim and completely remove all the game files of your disk and do a fresh re-install.
It is a hard reset and you have to do your personal settings all over again, but it works most of the time.
I was trying to install the update thru MSStore, went okay. When starting the game, after the “press any key” screen, the content manager is stuck with a 87kb file “fs-base-ingamepanels-objectives-0.1.44.fspatch” - It has been sitting at this file for over an hour. Tried restarting and rebooting, no success. The sim itself is on 1.7.14.0 already. Any word on this?
Tried applying the update last night (9pm UK time) - 330mb download via the store was fine, ran the Sim asked me to reinstall the full 95GB.
I didn’t mind that too much as one suggestion was a clean install.
My problem is it doesn’t get past the asobo 787 file and keeps restarting
