Discussion + Poll: Hotfix 1.18.14.0

Cheers that sort of makes sense.

Shame it doesnt explain what has been totally screwed up by the update

I dont usually fly that low, mainly becasue of the fps hit, but when you get told your fps will be so much better on SU5, of course, you give it a try.

Most of my flying has probably been 2-5000 feet, with some lovely skies and clouds to fly through in VR. Its a total washout now.

3 hours flight. Some CBĀ“s in the area.GPU is running like hell. BUG! I saw that behavior some versions before. It was fixed… Now it is back again… Ahhhhrrrgggg…

Workaround: Switch to clear weather and than back to live…

I’ve had nothing but

for over 20 mins, and

the never ending blue bar, for at least 20 mins…

And the sim continues to run after ALT+F4

Multi-player is turn OFF.

This is what I see outside my window.

Performance and stability are two very different things.
Asking for joint feedback on this point will not uncover the trend that people are seeing (poorer stability with new CTD’s since the update but usually better performance). I had zero CTD’s before update now I have them frequently at different points of flight planning, setup and in the air. I have an empty comm folder and am flying the TBM930.

I’ve never seen a poll that asks those 2 questions compounded together. If you want to see what’s realling going on seperate them in the poll.

Same for me. I’m expecting CTDs even in the main menu

If this doesn’t clutter the skies and scenery I don’t know what does!

Got it. You have to turn off multi-player in the data connection option. Kinda defeats having an option on the World page though if it can’t be toggled from there. :frowning:

Yeah, even though going through "my downloads " on flightsim.to, they are all red, meaning updated since I downloaded them last. But gotta look close as they also say, last updated 3 months ago. I dont think I’ll be touching any addons for awhile, at least till we hear from Microsoft on what their plan is. Carenado just updated the fuel selector on the mooney from a previous MSFS, now they have to update it again. My fear is asobo changes it again, and the carenado aircraft get hosed again. I’ll wait.

As I’m sure you agree, one video or a couple of screenshots proves nothing, whether that be that graphics haven’t degraded, or that they have.

I have parts of London that look incredible now as well. But I also get the bombed out Armageddon in other parts every time I fly, and I didn’t before. Just now I flew out of London City, when I look back all I could see was featureless polygons (this isn’t an exagggeration, this is what they were), which were only given shape and texture when I reached within a few miles. It also happens particularly in a huge area west of Hyde Park. This happens, why do some people want to insist it doesn’t? Asobo have now confirmed they are investigating it as a real issue along with the temperature bug so they obviously have seen it and don’t agree this is being invented.

I don’t get the reasoning behind someone saying they see a problem, and showing a one-off screen shot/video as if that proves the person is imagining things? You seeing good graphics does nothing to invalidate what is happening to other people, and I must question the motivation? Do you not want people to raise issues? How else will they be identified and addressed?

I just hope you are grateful when all the bugs in the game are hopefully fixed because other people raised them. Prowling the forums telling people they’re making things up doesn’t help anyone. All you’re doing is making it harder for everyone by muddying the water, and if you are fed up with the negativity, it could probably be reduced by people not denying others experiences, which obviously makes them feel they have to shout louder for the problem to be taken seriously and worked on.

Okay, I’ll try it like that to see if it goes better

You’re right. Let’s hope that Asobo has not been bought by any mediocre and saves us from a sad end. There are people who give up beauty for a handful of dollars.

Some observations about the missing jetways and malfunctioning live weather issues:

Jetways: I just completed a flight in the FBW A320 from EBBR to EDDS (both from Justsim). No jetways at EBBR, all jetways present at EDDS (and working as normal). Really random issue.

Live weather: strangely, working perfectly for the whole flight. I read in another thread that live weather had been temporarily changed server side to investigate the issue.

FBW A320: latest development version working perfectly ! (the version updated today). The first time I’ve really had no issues at all with it. A dream to fly !!

Now doing a flight from EDDV to EDDM, also in the FBW A320. No jetways at Justsim EDDV. Let’s see if EDDM is working (Simwings). Live weather not working again (temperature spikes to +38C at around FL250). Switched to preset. Then back to live weather just to test it. Working again between FL300-350. Hmm… well, I’ll keep it on as long as it’s working!

Otherwise, no serious issues with the sim as it stands. I was having frequent CTDs until today. I deleted the manual and rolling cache files as well as the CONTENT.XML in \AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache and all of the *.dat files in \AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SceneryIndexes before doing the two flights described above. This seems to have solved a lot of problems.

Chris

EDIT: live weather malfunctioned again just as I finished writing this! So switched back to a preset. Bummer !

It’s true
CptBayer, blocking at 30 fps it seems that it is more fluid, the fps have risen more, and the buildings look more or less good, there is still more to repair, but hey, from how it was and looked before to how it is and looks now is too much visible.

Me2. Flying X-Plane again…

At least for me it does seem that once I hit 6.8 G in memory (or there about) I crash out. I cannot load at any large city and this am I managed to start a flight at SNA but as I flew out and monitored memory once I hit around 6.8 G I crashed out. I am now convinced that that is the issue for me - if you try to load at an airport with lots of graphics (almost any large airport or city) you will hang or crash out. I restarted at PSP (where I was only using about 4 G of memory (and was able to start and complete the flight to CYVR.

Ok I missed this one, what is the benefit of deleting context.xml?

Lucky you mate…having to fly again…aint it amazing?
BUT! Buying the game again…I don’t think we should be going thru that stage…it’s not how it should be when we believed in this product.

Yes I agree with you on the 'flying again" part…thats one thing many of us are just itching to do.

Change your name to Arnie and just admit you’ll be back :open_mouth:

I don’t exactly know, but I think it makes the sim rebuild the scenery indices (or indexes if you prefer). This seems to have a positive effect…
