Discussion + Poll: Sim Update 10 (1.27.21.0)

Yes. 5 minutes + the download was streaming

Ffs just tried a flight with vanilla airports Rotterdam and Gatwick with the pc12 and it bloody ctd on Xbox AGAIN!!!

What is going on???

It’s odd, I’ve never been offered 22H2. I wonder… did they pull it?

They stagger the big Windows updates like this, so not everybody is downloading them at once.

I totally understand that its not that easy to implement live weather gusts because of the reasons you mentioned! But gusts every 1or 2 seconds is not a data issue. If METAR only gives wind and gust info there is no reason why they are so frequent in game. This gust problem is the same in custom weather!! So its the game that is the problem and not the data. Or am i wrong?

Ok, not bad 8.47 Hrs without any issues. Glad to being able to do long-hauls on Xbox.

Seems to be my case, unfortunately. I updated win 11 hours before SU10 came, and I get many stutters in MSFS. Fps similar to SU9, but experience now much more frustrating. Hope they fix it soon
I711700, 3060Ti, 32Gb Ram, Fenix, G2 (I only fly VR), DX11, TAA 100, scaling down with OXR toolkit.
I decreased TLOD from 200 to 150 and went down with some other parameters, so average fps is as before (15 -25) but the visual experience is nasty (I was happy with even 13 fps in SU9 as the visuals were so smooth).
Very disappointed now with SU10

A friend of mine flies MSFS 2020 on XBox and it crashes every time that he uses it, including after this latest update. I’m using a Gaming PC running Windows 10 and have thankfully never had a CTD with MSFS 2020. My friend is now seriously considering getting a new Gaming PC.

You are doing well had a mare today. Pc12 off the list now!

I’ve got a pc too thankfully but sometimes I like to fly by couch. Plus my missus gets annoyed when I’m on the pc as she’s usually watching Netflix and hates the drone of the plane engine :joy:

Thanks for the suggestions on what to do before installing this update. I checked all of my Community folders and they were all empty. I’ll empty the cache out at as recommended at installation. Its odd to me that the update doesn’t do this automatically for you. I would think that would be easy to program?

@jfoguet61
Could have wrong obviously, but check if you have any kind of overlay enabled (NVidia Geforce, RTSS, MSI Afterburner, etc.)

I’m quoting myself, posted yesterday here:

The problem was the NVidia overlay bottom right, even if it wasn’t displayed. I needed to deselect it in the Gefore App (not only with ALT-R toggle).

Just in case…

Yeap. That“s the point. I think the implementation in game is wrong, even if they take the metar data and use it correctly for the strength and direction. But they are too frequent both in custom presets and in live weather and that results in being almost impossible to fly a light aircraft, specially if gusts are part of crosswind. The tail never stops bouncing and it bounces really hard and really fast.

Cheers

So i installed the windows update on tuesday night before su10 was released… i have notices the odd stutter and fps drop here and there… what should i do? Roll back the windows update? Wait for this new driver? Im unsure on what to do right now…

So when using DLSS i will always have this on my screen?

I should’ve known. After gushing over the improvements in SU10, just as I exit this forum and start up the sim, I get an error I’ve never seen before. It pops a window that says something like, "one of 3 things happened, GFX card, CPU issue or driver.

I looked and I’m not overheating and I checked the driver version. The error log said that widows had a hardware error.

I’m going to restart my machine and try again.

All you need is a super cheap 4090 series card to experience how DLSS is meant to be…

INSERT EYE ROLL

Just to confirm, are these the wonderful clouds that everyone says is amazing after SU10?

All I see is brown, low resolution, pixelated at the edges, cauliflower/volcanic ash?

The update to 2H22 is causing what you are describing and nVidia is working on the problem. You can roll back the Windows 2H22 update within a short time frame and SU 10 will be what you expected. Google how to do it as Win 11 has changed that too. Once you roll back, you will have to start MSFS 2020 with your X-Box or Steam app the first time you use it.

No issues here. Running 22H2 with the 517.40 studio driver. So far so good.
