Discussion + Poll: Sim Update V (1.18.13.0)

I think it said at the start of my dowload that it was going to download 40GB but the total extra space on disk was about 20GB.
So around 20GB is just replacing existing files.

Have they fixed approach flyback bug as promised?

Yup! Working for me!

Not sure anyone’s managed to download it to find out yet.
Was the approach bug listed as a SU5 fix?

I am not talking about the drone cam. I am talking about the external view cam. they call it a chase cam.

Try moving the slider up and down a couple of times. Sometimes the speed change takes a couple of changes to ā€œtakeā€ properly

Sorry this is what I meant ^^^^ The sliders are a bit bugged…

How long did it take you to download? I’m only up to 53%

i just tested and get between 55 and 60 fps with not 1 single microstutter. So yeah, looks good to me

Would be nice to leeave some fedback, but the microsoft store is freezing and it’s literally impossible to start the update. Guess I gotta wait some more…edit:working now.

Wow. Installation a mess for me. Didn’t get the update screen on starting but it updated anyway. However, after that it wouldn’t start up. Cant re-download from the Microsoft store because of error: 0x80070424. Also, everything gone from my community folder. (backed up). Same thing happened after update IV and V so something does not agree with my system!

What you’ll find with this update is that it pretty much standardises performance. For example if you were getting 40FPS flying over New York in an Icon A5 before the sim update you’ll pretty much still get 40FPS after the update. The difference now is you you’ll find you can get around 40FPS flying the A320 over New York. All that extra work is being done by the extra CPU core thats been brought into use.

There are other benefits too in that you may find you can crank graphics settings higher and not really experience much FPS drop. That will depend on the power of your GPU though and how under used it was before the update.

Depending on your set up you may experience even bigger performance gains but as I say it just standardises performance so no matter what you fly and where you fly it you should have a smoother experience. No longer will you have to worry about not flying a 787 over Paris for example.

Here I sit. Multiple reboots. Takes forever to get here and then nothing. It’s just like if you click on this image. Process Manager shows not responding then clears the not responding then clears then not responding…

Yeah if you’ve got a 3080 or 3090 (I’ve got a 3080) you should now be easily able to max everything out to ultra with 200% LOD and get 40FPS in 4K with around 30FPS on take off from a hand crafted airport.

And I’ll just add all of that above whilst flying an A320. Thats the joy of this update.

Sounds good  Can’t wait to test.

this is a complete donkey show. finally get in, and all my xbox controller mappings are jacked up. they have changed some much of the default mappings for controller have to totaly relearn the maps. which is fine, i get it.

go into first flight, can’t even click, FLY with mouse, it’s just flickering all over the place.

exit sim, restart. try to start 1st flying lesson to ā€œre learnā€ xbox controller mappings. and still not able to click fly with mouse.

I use the RivaTuner FPS limiter during updating or loading into the games or menu - keeps room temperature as low as possible and fan noise tolerable. I don’t understand why there is not an internal cap on FPS for anything outside actual flight
