Discussion: September 17th, 2020 Development Update

Have you turned on hidden folders in View?

If you are going to do that sort of thing, it’s always best to save a copy of the old ones, in case something is not right with the mod, or the sim changes.

This one is quite different from the old ones, it specifically has a “community” folder so that any addons or modscan be placed in that community folder, and it won’t affect the sim. When it starts up, it reads the “official” directory first, then the community one, and replaces the official stuff with the community stuff.

That way, you can remove the community folders and get back to default without having to remember exactly what was changed.

If you are replacing individual files, it’s best to rename them XXXX.XXX.original so that you end up with XXXX.XXX and XXXX.XXX.original, and if you need to go back, you can rename XXXX.XXX to XXXX.XXX.modname and rename XXXX.XXX.original back to XXXX.XXX then move the XXXX.XXX.modname out from the sim directory into a holding directory.

I know it’s a bit complicated, but it is the best way to make sure you don’t mess up the sim and end up having to reinstall. Even that is not always foolproof, as I had to reinstall FSX a few months ago after a weather app broke the game. My FSX is only 17GB, but it took almost 6 days to reinstall everything and get it back to where I was, this one is so much bigger !!

You can see what I mean with this

Thanks for the info, I just got it up and running after I removed the official folder and it redownloaded the patch of the official folder, it’s working now. I usually do backup folders I mustve forgotten that time.

Unfortunately I have a severe impact at the performance of flight simulator after the new update. Before the new patch I have had about 30 FPS with all sliders at maximum and with 4k resolution on my 62 inch display. I was very happy and enjoyed the new flight simulator. After the installation of the new update I have seriously a massive impact of FPS even if I set the main slider at medium. At the other side the simulation needs noticeably more time to load a scenery. If I set the slider for “rendering scaling” from 200 to 100 and with “clear sky” I get playable FPS under 30, but the game does not look as good as before. If I set the slider for renderin scaling above 140-150 I get FPS down to 10 and the game is not playable more. And if I run the simulation at rendring scaling 100 with cloudy sky I have again FPS down to 10. If I change the rendering scaling during a flight then the simulation crashes.

My PC specification

CPU AMD Rayzen 7 3700x

GPU ASUS ROG Strix Nvidia RTX 2080S 8GB

RAM 32GB/3200 Corsair Venegeance

Hard SSD PCIe 4.0 x4 Corsair Force Series MP600

Windows 10 Home

Yes, that’s really not right given your specs. It’s not your hardware. Have you tried lowering resolution for the time being (you shouldn’t really have t do this but it might help for now), personally I cannot distinguish almost any visual difference.

I am sad that the developer did not issue a notice. There are a lot of comments, a lot of mistakes. They always emphasize the importance of the community, but this is not really the case

Can’t complain about fps although it got a little worse since Sept.17th but what i really don’t understand is how could they make the A320 even worse than it already used to be Terrible.
How could improving some autopilot issues even lead to random shutdowns of Engine #1?
Another very nice addition is when the PFD is turning off/dimming down randomly.

Regarding ATC, i hear new voices yes but now whenever its supposed to say one (1) it says something like “oleny” wtf?

Everything is nice and beautiful, I only wonder about one thing. Why such a huge, complex and complicated program as MSFS 2020 can cost $ 120.00 for the best DELUXE version, while updates from independent developers for one airport, plane, landscape or any kind of utility software can cost over $ 30.00 and even more. For a normal-minded person, this differentiation of values should initially be a bit of puzzling, but as you can see, no one has touched on this topic so far. In my opinion, such upgrades should not cost more than $ 10.00 and probably more non-advanced MSFS users would decide and choose to buy not one but more, and the benefit to developers could even be greater than the artificially inflated selling price.

Ahhh,be patient & somebody will knock out a very capable, free version for us - we have seen this already in the scenery department :+1:t2:
