I have been experiencing this since the recent UK update, and never before.
It’s horrible. Flying ok then suddenly frames so slow I can almost count them. This lasts for maybe half a minute and then it jumps back to full performance.
Just horrid.
And since that update I’ve also been experiencing 20+ second hangs without CTD.
I’m still getting the long hangs with sim update 3. Haven’t flown it enough yet to know if the other cos issue remains.
Yes, I think you are dead on. I just discovered a ton of updates to install now in my content.
BTW, if anyone is following this thread, I have seen some recommend turning off the Photogrammetry to increase FPS.
Surprisingly, I have gotten just the opposite effect. I find that my FPS increased 3-6 FPS when I turned Photogrammetry back on, after having it off for a couple of days.
Just an observation. Probably has more to do with where I mostly fly - the Hawaiian Islands, where there isn’t anywhere near the detail like they’ve done in London!
Just did a quick hoon with clear skies. About the same as I got before, high 30s to 40s in the cockpit and 40s to 50s outside at 1440p. I get about mid 30s on the runway from the cockpit.
How do I install those liveries? I seem to remember reading somewhere in this thread that I need to use the content manager to install the liveries… But I can’t figure out how, there isn’t even a liveries tab in the content manager…
I thought the GPU driver is responsible for controlling the GPU temp. At least I hope so. I have several games that hammer my GPU hard and the driver is controlling the temp no matter the program.
I don’t think that having MSFS controlling GPU temp is a good idea. MSFS would have code for each GPU card supported. And if MSFS bypasses GPU drivers then users wouldn’t have driver problems with each upgrade.

Control surface limits: We can now adjust the maximum angle limits for elevator, rudder and aileron control surfaces.
[/quote] We need 2 settings - “Up” and “Down”, or “+” and “+” hey may be different. For example, for Yak-52 ailerons Up is 22 and Down is 16.
Performance decrease definitely noticeable, I’d say anything from 15-20%
Noticeable stutters on taxiway, takeoff and landing
Contrails are a nice addition, hopefully they’ll improve cause the physics seems a bit off i.e. they always seems to follow a straight line behind the engines, a little weird but no biggie
Most annoying for me personally, the dreaded return of lightning in clear skies, oh boy, I wish I could disable the effect until it’s resolved.
Forgot to add, clouds definitely got a double dose of grainy
No other issues to report, flying at CL seems to be quite smooth, also noticed excessive engine movement on the 787, especially on takeoff, pretty cool if it’s actually correct.
I agree. Same things happen with Eurotruck Simulator 2 after a major update. I have no community files and no crash issue since a long time.
They have to call this mods folder.
Except no one in this thread seems to realise what those liveries mean - we can finally figure out how to make not-mirrored textures for 747-8i.
Everyone is so over their head with this update and they don’t realise that it actually fixes a lot and never promised Garmin reaching Working Title’s level, ever. People somehow thought this update will make stock avionics like modded ones. It won’t. It never was intended for that. Result of overblown expectations? 90% of this thread and complaints.
People say that this is yet another update ruining the game - somehow this wasn’t the case with UK World update, which got praise, and had one regression reported that was then hotfixed. Everyone in this thread (almost) is unfortunetly over their head. Seems like community loves to adjust it’s tune when it is comfortable for them. I absolutely love this change of narrative from the almost constant praise UK World Update got. Suddenly Asobo is awful and dissapointing when it wasn’t a month ago? Yeah right.
Hello, you keep talking in riddles , . Do you mean that a more thorough beta testing phase is in the making? I think I read something about that somewhere. So your solution would be deploying an update to say 1000 PC’s with a wide range of different configurations and let that run for a week to smooth out the most apparent issues?
I think that could be a great idea. Maybe even having a mix of two delivery methods: one monthly for small improvements and bug fixes, and two large beasts every half year for, say, functionalities like VR, DX12, ATC, etc. The beta could be implemented for this second type of upgrade. Just my two cents.
I can see your point. I am not going to say what the people above me have said but I see both ways. Asobo is not going to really, honestly update their avionics, performance or physics for the planes. If they do, it will be in small amounts. Its fairly typical of default aircraft. However, there are bugs and issues that have not been resolved since last August. I don’t expect Asobo to fix everything but having these issues for so long is getting ridiculous. Not to mention the odd elevation issues, flap problem from the previous update or now…still new bugs. Some of the planes oscillate to and fro and its incredibly annoying. Didn’t happen before this update. No mods installed and the problem persists.
Those 30 or so livery updates? I had to do them 2 or 3 at a time. Then it would say Please Wait and lock up. End Task. Restart sim. Download 2 more. End Task. Restart Sim… Took a couple of hours of that nonsense. Content Manager sometimes locks up on “Please Wait” after downloading content. It still downloads fine, but had to be restarted a million times.
One general observation. Could people who experience serious frame drops compared to before the update go to zendesk and log a well documented ticket? Just take 10 minutes to inform Asobo about everything that can help them to pinpoint the issue, instead of bluntly blaring your frustrations here without any further information. It doesn’t help anybody this way, does it?
I found something that fixed the problem in my case. Usually I launch my sim from the Desktop using a shortcut.
I went back to the Xbox Pass application and launched the game from here and for some reason it downloaded an additional GB of data + went through another round of download within the game (i.e. a total of 3 downloads, including the first one that led to this serie of crashes). And now it works perfectly. I hope it helps.
