Was running fine for me after finding a laptop that would run this game, so got my hardware sorted a few months ago now after this latest update it CTD every time a flight is loaded, im just fed up with this carry on i cant find any way to run this FS now
Did they fix the problem when you turn the heading bug and it goes by 10 degrees instead of 1???
everyone mentions clear community folder there is never anything in it in my folder
Anyone who purchased the SIM through STEAM, if you installed your Steam games in a Drive other than C:, the latest update DID NOT RESPECT THE INSTALLATION PATH!!! That so called âpatch/UPdateâ ended up being a FULL installation on the default drive, NOT my drive D: where everything was installed. My community folder and 150 gigs of files became useless and contributed to the SIM CTDs. I fixed it by going to my Steam App and use the command to move the installation folder from D: to drive C:. I had to re-installed all my purchased items, and THEN used Steam App again to move everything back to drive D:. The SIM took a big hit on FPS, and I do have a Monster of a PC, with my Strix RTX 3090 OC waiting to be fed by the CPU because the SIM is not using all cores efficiently as it shouldâŠ
The community folder is where you place the MODS you download from different sites on the internet. It is also used by some vendors, like ORBX, to installed legit purchased MODS, like planes, city landscapes, etc⊠If you donât purchased stuff or put files in the folder yourself, it will always stay empty.
In the task manager my CPU was running around 77% and GPU at 33-35% during low flight over Miami in Beechcraft. FPS around 20 maximum 25. At kmia 12 FPS or lower
I canât express my JOY of seeing ports of FSX airlines, while completely IGNORING the promised changes to the GARMINs and supposed ATC fixes. Microsoft, we bought this because it was called a SIMULATOR, not a world tour travel game. I am finally beginning to consider moving to Xplane. The price looks better and better, for something that actually WORKS.
My sim is on Steam, my Steam is on D:, every update process since release including this one has worked flawlesslyâŠ
ok thanks for the explanation
I want to thank those that have been posting about there experience with the nvidia driver 457.30 and how the simulator has been smooth. I just reverted back to 457.30 from the latest driver, lo and behold my sim is not only back to normal but seems fairly smoother. I say fairly smoother because Iâm running on VR with ultra clouds, light shaft on ultra, occlusion high, pretty much very high settings and 90 render scale on OpenXR and 80 in sim.
My specs:
I7 8700k ocd to 4.3ghz
2080 super (not OC)
64GB Ram
1 TB SSD
Water cooled
Reverb G2
Sim was store bought
Task manager shows CPU around 30% usage and GPU 100%. Flew over Miami, downtown, city at 100 ft or lower fast speed, over KMIA, took off from KMIA approached, and landed fairly smooth. Prior to rolling back it was a slideshow from hell. I guess the update and current nvidia driver hate each other at the moment or we may have to reinstall the current driver, not sure. I also cleared compatibility boxes in Flightsimulator.exe properties as well as the DPI, not sure if that also helped, but doesnât hurt to try.
Thereâs also an update available in MS windows store for XBOX gaming services which I installed prior to launching the sim after updating the 457.30 driver. Again not sure if that helps in anyway. Just mentioning in case it does.
There is a DirectX runtime download in the MS store too.
I still donât quite understand one point, how could it be possible that fps gets down for most of the users while graphics of the game get dumbed down again.
Went to log problem with Zendesk, in search the HelpCenter keyed âMSFS Update Loopingâ, Selected âDownload stuck on packages âŠâ.
Address below.
Download stuck on packages / Install loop & Decompressing issues â Microsoft Flight Simulator Support (zendesk.com)
Ran only:
Disable Window Auto-tuning
Cleaned out everything in Community folder
Rebooted, closed down all Apps incl Aorus overclock.
And successfully updated. MSFS now running fine.
Was it the updated driver that caused problems? Cheers.
The addon sceneries from payware and freeware dont work anymore. If I plan a flight from both ends of them, it crashes. If I use the default scenery to plan a flight, no problems even the sceneries I have from the marketplaceâŠunusable too. Man Iâm going back to xplane. This sucks!!!
And I have both updates installed correctly..
I reverted my drivers but no real change other than the scenary started flickering as well, moving back Iâll wait for Asobo to fix what they appear to have broken ![]()
Hello Sabena321140, long time ago I set my Nvidia graphics card to âmaximale Leistungâ or âmax powerâ. I believe (that is I have not really tested it) my frames per second are the same before and after version 1.14.5.0.
I am fine with using the OFFICIAL Nvidia tool to set my graphics card the way I want. I use NO OVERCLOCKING tool. Please donât mix apples and oranges too much!
I have FSX:Steam. It is not expensive. But you just change problems of a âtoo youngâ product with problems of a âtoo oldâ product. Do as you like!
My story: With version 1.13.17.0 I had to reduce my CPU overclocking from 4.2GHz to 4.1GHz to get rid of my CTDs. This was the second overclock reduction I had to do for MSFS 2020. No benchmark drives the CPU as hard as this program.
I assume that crash reasons are 80% overclocking and 20% not initialized variables (Asobo).
Years ago I needed âunderclockingâ, that is operate the CPU below its specs. This was really sh*tty. By the way it was a 80286!
Last topic: My motherboard BIOS overclocked the CPU by default!? Maybe you have something stupid like this, too.
So you and they proved my point entirely! They were shamed into bringing them into the fold!
Try harder next time Jokabaku x
