Discussion: World Update I: Japan

Well if it was p3D we would be buying Japan from OrBx so what’s your point

Everything went smooth this time. Update installed in like 20 minutes. Did a flight from Copenhagen to Málaga with the A320neo, smooth as a baby’s bum throughout the 3 hours and 45 minutes of flying. Thought it was because I had render scaling under 100, but it turned out I had it on 110, which before the patch would make the sim a bit sluggish (I don’t count FPS to prevent only looking at numbers).

Tried turning up the settings to Ultra, still with render scaling at 110 in a new flight and it’s as smooth as when I had the settings at Medium/High-End before the patch. And that’s with an i5-9400F, 16 GB RAM and a GeForce 1660 Super. No need for me to upgrade yet.

The swaying on the A320N is gone. I noticed that V/S still goes above 6000, but I had no payload, only fuel, so that might have been the problem. Gotta try with a payload tomorrow. Also putting in the approach too close to the airport in the MCDU still makes the aircraft return to the waypoint behind you.

I have Intel i7 8700K and Nvidia Geoforce 1080ti.

Just what i thought, intel nvidia seems the best combination for MSFS…

On the weather configuration page, when adjusting the time, it no longer changes the image representing that weather configuration i.e. it doesn’t change from day to night. You can see in the background the world map is, but that little graphic does not. It looks like this is a cosmetic bug, though. Even though the icon shows it as being dark, starting at midday does just that.

Okay…that’s weird. Now it does…

If I pick Nagasaki, it doesn’t alter the graphic at the top right.

On top of that, the list of start positions sometimes doesn’t show, but only if you choose the airport itself as the start position. You can see the size of the vertical scroll bar that there are many items on that list, you just can’t choose them.

So far I have had luck with this patch. Download and installation went smooth. I could download and install the Japan DLC immediately without issues. After that, I restarted the PC and launched FS. All planes were there, my options untouched, my flight loaded, scenery still looked good, weather was fine.

Did notice a change in the buildings and heights, not too dramatic, maybe even better matching now in the area I live in. But I agree, that there should not be buildings with double the size as expected and before the patch. Hopefully they figure this out.

Loaded second flight in Japan / Tokyo. Looked great, seems to be a good mixture of autogen and PG buildings. Weather, however, was reset to clear skies instead of real weather. Sadly, this issue still prevails (as expected as not mentioned to be solved with this patch). Did not bother to restart the sim for testing.

I could open the VFR map so far without issues (both in internal and external view). Did not fly over 30 minutes though, so the bug might still affect me sooner or later.

I know how frustratng CTDs are and FS on one day is the most stable sim I ever had and the next day, it might crash. I´ve experienced this shortly after patch 2 (not related though), when certain areas caused instand CTD when BING map was set to online or the LoD was set too high. Was not too happy about it for sure.

Some had the same issues, some did not.
Still, I did not go ahead and called ppl liars or that they ignored issues or just claimed not having them and then tried to force them to prove to me that they really had no issues.

So, it is mentioned in the patch log, that VFR map might crash the sim. Yep, that´s bad and I agree, it would have been better to first resolve this and then launch the patch. Especially as there is no workaround to fly without installing the patch… (not great to read in the patch log, that this patch might cause CTD and you are still forced to apply it unless you want to be grounded for another 2 weeks)

And yet, a lot of ppl can still use the map for a long while while others can have an immediate crash.
The good thing is that they already confirmed this to be a bug, so they will for sure have a fix soon.

Did not try the Airbus or Boeing so far.

I must mention i’m mostly a GA prop flyer only but i didn’t have any issues yet with this patch. No stutters, no CTDs, nothing.

and for more than MSFS costs

What’s your system hardware?
Have you done any overclocking?
Any mods in the community folder?
What does the event viewer tell about the app crashes (CTDs)?

Its glitchy. Sometimes yes, sometimes no

After succesful update and after the second start of my pc after the update I now have the problem that I can’t start the flightsimmulator anymore. I always get to the gaming services app in the microsoft store. Until now never had an issue with patch 1 and 2. Yeah Community folder was empty before upgrading and still is, newest drivers and so on. Ran the System file checker on Win 10 professionel got the message no integrity violations.
Strange… hope that is not the end of me enjoying the flightsim, I am a little bit confused.

Yep you got it. :+1:t2:

That is pretty much normal these days because they expect everyone to have very fast internet

45 minutes in, and all good… so far! Looks like the autopilot tracks a lot better than before. No more S-turns at steerpoints when changing course.

The direct to is for sure working better. Once they fix selecting a transition on approach that will be nice.

Non funziona più niente.. La rotta non viene più visualizzata nel a bordo su qualsiasi aereo. Diventato non più giocabile… impossibili volare ifr con qualsiasi mezzo che abbia un pilota automatico

Anyone having issues with the A.I COMMS not responding to ATC when they are turned on?

I’m sorry to here that, and I don’t want to make it seem unimportant. But I dream that all my GPS was broken and I had to fly vor to vor. Just one of my complaints that there aren’t more planes that are only stream gauges.

I think they may have overdone the lightning. I just saw a bolt appear overhead, in clear skies, but with a storm on the horizon. No where near me but the bolt extended all the way from above me to the horizon.

This is live weather, heading South East from Nagasaki.
