Discussion: World Update I: Japan

Actually, I have quite an Inexpensive Gaming Laptop ACER Nitro 5. (approx $650)

i5 2.4Ghz, HD 1080, 8 Gb Ram & 500G SSD. HDMI to a modest 28" monitor.
Considering upping the ram to max (32Gb) You can never have too much Ram !!!
Most slider set High – I’m happy

Only really has FSX, MSFS & X-Plane on it (only 5 weeks old)

How you can play with this setup. :open_mouth: Especially with 8GB RAM. Must have is 32GB. FPS?

Yes,

this is issue what also affects other things inisde sim - live weather after go to World map, … They simply don’t have healthy return/go back from functions, share keys, pointers and referencies to objects and other things. I say this very generally but that init problem is clear everywhere. I can also feel not really like that only guess, but because some CTDs are here is somehow possible. Not properly prepared. If this isn’t solved from base and next adds will come next, then I can imagine that future neverending problems.

na, 32gb of ram are definately not a must have since the 1.8.x update. memory usage went down on my side from 13gb down to around 7gb while in-flight. 16gb of total ram should be sufficient.

i do have 32gb of ram though, however, it’s due to getting some vm’s to run.

I have seen also 34GB RAM. But ok, with tons of addons (40GB) The most are deleted, was more about testing. I have also a few vm’s running. That’s the reason why I upgraded to 64GB. By the way, no issues to run vm’s and FS2020 at the same time.

Well, I think it’s time to put this one back on the shelf for awhile and wait for the next series of patches…Trying to play this now is an exercise in frustration…12 flights yesterday and 9 ended in CTD’s. No VFR map used…Just straight out random CTD’s while flying…

I’m being snarky here but aren’t patches supposed to fix more things than they break? I sort of wish there was a way to install the initial version again…At least with that one, yeah, sure there were bugs here and there, but you could work around them…and actually enjoy flying…

Found this which sort of sums it up…lol

ya, too bad it doesn’t work for you. ctd’s are more than just frustrating. any overclocking on your side? msfs seems to hate that.

i’m up in the air for 2.5 hours now on AP with my beloved TBM:

it’s just so strange to see the broad range of those with success and those with failures with this game.

I don’t know if I should dance or laugh or both or go cry in my beer.
That’s funny.

1.The shadows were soft before the update. After the update the shadows are angular! With the 787, the shadows on the buttons are no longer there! I haven’t changed anything in the graphics settings.

  1. A320 Neo. With a cold start you get no energy no matter what you do. As a result, the radio does not work either … Even if I let the checklist work automatically, the aircraft does not receive any power and the displays remain black.

  2. 787-10 Dreamliner. The displays for altitude, speed, course and VS are black …

So in summary I can’t fly any of the planes without problems and there was also a graphic downgrade. Really great performance … I paid € 120 for this. I’ve already uninstalled the planes and downloaded them again, but that didn’t work. I’m really mad and hope for a quick update. Google translated the text.

Supposedly because it’s military?

It’s good enough to “SIM” and no matter how much memory, everyone will CTD just as well as everyone else … 8G or 64G

True. CTD’ mostly come from Overclocking, PSU, defective memory chips, bugs in Application etc.

Frustrant, frustrant, frustrant. Trop de CTD, il y en a marre, surtout après un vol préparé aux petits oignons. C’est toujours en finale en plus. Bref, je fais confiance néanmoins aux équipes et aux futures versions de FS2020. Courage aux uns et patience aux autres.

Nada…no overclocking…stock CPU and GPU speeds…I never experienced any CTD’s on the launch version or after patch 2…Bugs, yes, but no CTD’s…

This is what they told us it will look like (Original shot from the Microsoft Video)

And this is what it looks like on ultra settings after the last patch! (I tried to recreate it)

If you still need help, I found a YT video after 4 days of trying to reinstall the whole 95GB installer.
I found a great solution on You Tube. Using the command prompt you set the TCP Autotuninglevel to disabled. Totally worked for me. Afterwards, set the tuning back to normal. Still took 7 hours at 125Mps to download the whole 95GB installer. But I’m back to flying!
Since we can’t post links find the solution with the search term " MSFS2020 download gets stuck". (Posted Aug. 18, 2020)

Sry,

that looks same to me, time and weather conditions are different…
