Discussion: World Update II: USA

Just spent an hour touring around New York City. the general scenery rendering is better today, no stutters, frame rate 45-55 and only a couple of small black patches which only lasted a second or two.The photogrammetry buildings were better and improved as I flew around. The issue is that the City has probably not been manually enhanced…which it needs. Not all the bridges are rubbish. PhotoG can cope with some models, the lighter…suspension type structures. Its the large lattice girder type bridges it cannot cope with…and they look awful.
One on the East River is a real mess…the traffic goes across in midair… way above the brdige platform. Looks to me like this update has been rushed out (to beat the Thanksgiving holiday?) without proper quality control…again. I checked out Tokyo with PhotoG on. As I remembered…it is fine. Its obvious PhotoG is operating…but the City scenery is much more “polished” than New York. I trust others will feedback their opinions on other areas so MSOBO don’t think we haven’t been looking. I for one have had eneugh "bug hunting for a while. I am going back to my home patch for some recreational flying !

Yeah I’m starting to think somebody tweaked the New York City area and broke something. I’ve had 3 CTDs in New York Harbour since the update. I think I’ll just avoid the area until they fix it. And yes the bridges on the Hudson look much better.

@WhisperyCart948 I didn’t check again but right when they’ve announced Japan DLC with PG, I didn’t find any Japanese 3D City in Bing Map. This tells me the Japan PG is recent and it might be one of the reasons it is appearing “more polished”.

I’d bet NYC has been among the first PG city available (given its WW notoriety and complexity perfectly showcasing what PG can do) and the Bing servers which are feeding FS2020 might be using this older data which most likely is not using the latest enhancements they have came up with since then.

Wow. Great, that may also cause that roads in hills look terrible. I check that tomorrow. Now it looks like roads are smashed to the hills.

I just clicked to do the East coast US tour and its telling me 1 or more items are missing and I need to go to content manager, what am I looking for in there? I thought it would be available after downloading the US updates.

The Death spikes still exist no matter what I do. Went back to all stock gpu settings and cpu settings deleted cache etc. I had made a patch for the whole area to fix the river height which I was close to happy with and figured it out, but now good luck having a nightmare while flying in Nebraska in IFR conditions

Could someone go north of KOMA and replicate this?

Another issue for me ( a major one for me at least)
After the USA update, the addons cannot be used as before. The same addons worked just fine after teh japan update (esp the liveries mega pack, Wash DC scenery etc) and now it only works when all the addons are removed (renamed the Community folder to OLD).
I especially love the liveries that are also used for AI traffic making the airports a bit realistic compared to the generic planes with pastel colors.
I am okay with the scenery, but I definitely want the FS to work with the community liveries…
Anyone else has noticed this??

This is very common. All add-ons are created with the SDK in a specific state. When the SDK or the underlying sim changes with an update the add-ons will all be affected. In some cases you may never notice. In others the add-on will fail. It is then up to the add-on developer to generate their own update to adjust to the ever changing sim. It has been like this since the first SDK was released for the first mod- able software. Welcome to the world of sim mods.

Hi everyone. I was experiencig problems with some downloads (POI USA). After a fresh new reinstall it worked. If you have the same issue, try it.

After the world update II my content manager won’t load. Says 0% installed and had the loading donut going in circles forever. But everything is downloaded.

Also, the draw distance is awful. You see flat earth textures without trees or houses not far from the aircraft. Immediately below the aircraft looks fine. As you approach distant ground, buildings and trees partially pop in. It looks like sh*t. Before the last update the world looked great.

I’ve had to uninstall the game and reinstall because the content manager was corrupted. This is the first time I’ve had issues so bad I had to reinstall. It’s been 8 hours and it’s only at 35% downloaded. Now I understand other people frustrations with this program.

Just select everything with the checkbox made for the purpose and press Update (or maybe Download, I don’t remember).

As I promised yesterday I toke a piece of the Bushflight Nevada at the Walker Lake to show the effect of Bing Data with roads.
It is better but not quite:

There are also a lot of thise needles in Minnesota/Wisconsin along the Mississippi from Minneapolis down to La Crosse.

Some reach about 6000 feet over ground while other have funny flying trees in the sky.

Thank you so much that’s awesome I’m really glad to know it’s not just me you had me laughing of all things at the very last I was yelling at my phone don’t hit it, two thousand, flatline

That is a load of sheeeit haha

My Content Manager suddenly would not load up either. I fixed it by checking the latest freeware additions to my community folder which had not been installed with the standard file format. Once I had removed a “holdind folder” above the standard scenery folder and reinstalled into the community folder the Content Manager worked again.

Errr I seem to be redownloading this patch for some unknown reason???

Its an interim update but it looks like they did not alter the release notes to reflect what is in todays patch giving the impression that we are downloading last Tuesdays update all over again.
