Discussion: World Update III: United Kingdom

If you can, please see if it is reported on the A32NX team GitHub page https://github.com/flybywiresim/a32nx

If not then raise it as a bug, and please put a post in FlyByWire community mod A320 - #306 by TenPatrol as well so ppl know it is a possible issue :¬)

Pretty surprised that Shannon airport was not implemented

The Humber Bridge looks great, shame about the huge brown band that they’ve left in. I reported that during the Alpha too. Not sure how you can work on a section of river for so long and not fix it!

I remember that one is pretty gnarly - no parking areas, there is grass all over the airport.

Yeah I know right ? Someone made a freeware mod for it , I deleted it in the hopes they would make it. Guess I’ll be adding that mod back !

Let’s see. My XBOX Series controller has always had the external camera motion inverted on both axes (move right stick to the right and the camera turns to the left, even though the settings show right-stick-right for camera right) so I had set up a custom control set to reverse it. This update reset all my custom settings back to defaults and it’s now backwards again.

Tabbed out after fixing it, and now going back the external camera up/down no longer function even though in the cockpit view they work.

Most buildings in London have a “crinkled” surface appearance, either kinda bad photogrammetry or some sort of LOD loading issue. Even skyscrapers look ■■■■ up close.

And I’ve been logged out four times from the forum while typing this. Sigh.

Sorted, I was using the website and not the app

It might also just show a “play” button ► in the top right of the Microsoft Store page … Clicking it will start the update from there, then as the other users say, once you start the sim it should do the major 23GB update

I may add it. I flew through there on my World Tour earlier last year and remember it sticking out in my memory as not a very nice experience. I guess I am a bit partial to that airport as I flew through it in real life on my way from St. Petersburg, Russia through Shannon, onto Newfoudland, and eventually KJFK in New York City.

Odd

It downloaded a 1Gb file first at 55 Mbps

Then started MSFS and it went into update mode but at 8 Mbps

Asobo and colleagues - thanks for the watermasks! Please keep them coming! Really makes a difference!

Yeaaaahhh… it seems steam did it itself, didn’t give me a choice. I’ve been reading about it

Could be worse… :stuck_out_tongue: Also on a Gigabit connection and pulling 4Mbits/S here

I dont see a new openxr? Its the same…

Shouldn’t be. All of London is stored locally on your hard drive. Sadly these big scenery models are brutal on your FPS. I’m getting around 20FPS over London in one of the smaller planes. The new London model does look incredible but its a big chunk of scenery for the sim to render.

6gb downloaded in 2 hours on a 100mb connection,

I get the servers are being hammered right now but they are owned by Microsoft, when a game releases on Xbox you don’t get bottled like this, for example let’s take a popular game in the shape of call of duty / fifa when they release at midnight on release date, you do not get these stupid speeds, it’s almost like being on dial up!

From start to finish less than 1 hour thanks for a good job

Just took a flight over London. Looks better than it was, but…

Where the hell is HMS Belfast?

There are two super yachts docked where there should be a WWII Town class light cruiser. Right across from the Tower.

Newest runtime starts with 105.2102… Check your windows updates, that was the problem for me. OpenXR Dev Tools has a new version on MS Store too
