Is there any plans for DLSS3 support in VR for FS2024? That would revolutionize our experience specially that the newly QUEST 3 is coming out soon with higher resolution, higher refresh rates and affordable price.
They have said all previously updates (33), will be implemented in the new sim, so VR with DLSS3 support [Separately] are considered from these updates.
Huh? DLSS 3 doesnt work in VR regardless of what game
Yeah DLSS 3 in VR does not exist.
are you asking about frame generation in VR? if they crack the code for Frame generation, it will come to both 2020 and 2024. They haven’t figured it out because it’s in the GPU and not the game. You can’t fake it in VR the way they fake it in 2D monitor.
Dlss 3 with VR separately, if you mean dlss 3 for vr itself, thats another horizon, i dont think vr market is dealing with right now.
VR is limited to certain resolutions & technical aspects, dlss is a solution for 4k gaming.
the OP maybe meant that will vr use dlss 3 feature in the 40 RTX gpus, then the answer is no, because of the difference between vr technical aspects, but msfs 2024 will for sure include vr support, and dlss 3 support separately.
i guess it will take many years for vr to reach the level of 4k gaming, then the need for dlss in first place.
AFAIK it never have been announced by Nvidia DLSS 3 aka Frame Generation (FG), coming to VR. And when you think about it it seems nearly impossible to implement.
VR have already what is called “Retro Projection”, or “ASW” for Oculus, which compute a futur frame from the information take from previous one and predicting motion.
FG is a totally different technique as it compute a “fake” frame between the one displayed, and the next one already computed, but not displayed (and it add latency which mean bad for VR, that’s another story).
Mixing both Technics and keep a smooth framerate is complexe (think about current stutering problem with FG and non-Gsync or non-Freesync monitor), and that’s probably why Nvidia never talked about it.
Now, I’ll be glad if they prove me wrong
Edit: to be clear and explaining why I don’t really agree with the @Ash0938503 post above: DLSS 2.x is mean for helping in resolution, so 1440p of 4K, and work perfectly fine with VR already. DLSS 3.x aka Frame Generation is not mean for 4K gaming specifically, it’s mean for helping on framerate, nearly doubling fps by creating those “fake” frame.
i agree with what you are saying.
more to say, VR with 2k & above resolutions have some implementation & mobility issues, for example, the most advanced resolution available is currently in the htc vive pro 2, & the only way to experience full resolution [wirelessly] is to use pcie slot on pcs, in the same time, laptops with TB4 connection that reaches to 40gb\s transmission data is not yet supported [officially].
so i agree with Microsoft when stated the vr market is still small, & have a slow growing & advancing.
I would be happy if DLSS 2 worked in the Sim. The glass gauges are a blurry mess.
I might be wrong but I thought the glass panels were blurry because of DLSS 2. Seb mentioned the only real fix for this was to somehow mask out the glass panels so they were excluded. So DLSS 2 is doing what it’s designed to do, just doesn’t look great for glass panels.
Yeah it’s true DLSS 3 doesn’t have VR support. This technology is designed for flat screens.
For VR various headsets almost all have some form of spatial motion reprojection - for Meta it’s Asynchronous SpaceWarp (ASW) which will give you more fps (effectively enabling you to reach your headsets hz rating I.e. in most cases 90fps) but takes additional CPU resources and produces some visual artifacts.
On my G2 though the aritfacting isn’t too bad, and simply being able to move your head around especially side to side and laterally with smooth stutter free fps is worth having motion reprojection enabled.
I’m looking at buying the Quest 3, I’m hoping it will be a nice upgrade to the ageing G2 as it’s a similar resolution but with superior optics, form factor, tracking and software.
Apparently, I can’t remember where I read it, but there has been no mention that FS2024 will have VR capability, I’ll be disappointed if that is the case and it will be a no buy for me.
Hi, the Helisimmer interview from the Expo suggests there will be VR support. I’d be surprised if there isn’t, although MS/Asobo clearly aren’t that interested in VR they’d be stupid not to include it.
I can’t wait for this. Doing helicopter rescues in VR bring it on …
Is this a windup? Of course there will be VR support. How much it would have moved on though is a different question.
It’s nice to see A2A have included some options for turbulence for VR in there new Piper Comanche, so we know the devs love it!
Anyway, with all the changes for CPU threaded optimisation and I’m sure there’ll be some GPU rendering optimisations as well, this will benefit VR massively, I’m not sure we’ll need DLSS 3
Is what a wind up? The fact there’s going to be support in MSFS2024?! i don’t follow you
Your entire post casts an unnecessary question mark over the inclusion of VR in MSFS 2024 and is borderline inflammatory. This is the quote from Sergio from the writeup of the FSExpo interview with Microsoft.
And, yes, for those that were freaking out because perhaps VR was going to be removed, VR is part of the package.
There is absolutely no suggestion here that VR will not be included in MSFS 2024 which was why I suggested your post was a windup. You’re making assertions where there are none, you need to be really careful about writing these statements because it gives the community the wrong impression of what’s going on.
@sneaky74 you’ve completely misinterpreted my post
Ok, maybe I did overract. . Looking forward to playing in VR in MSFS 2024.
