DLSS 4 Multi Frame Gen (MFG)

So if we have DLSS 4 support now, do we still need to go into nvidia app and change the needed settings.

Thanks for pointing this out. The 5070Ti has been cranking out 58-60 FPS since I bought it last month but my old HDTV tops out at 60Hz, which would suggest to me that my set-up is not a use case for FG. Might also explain why I cannot select FG higher than 2x. The features are there in SU2 so now is a good time to get to know them and when they might be useful!

not needed, profile J is already a transformer model profile. You can use nvidia app to force latest dll and profile K

Recently I saw a YT video, can’t recall whose, that demonstrated 4x that looked really great on a G1000 in MSFS, which got me looking forward to seeing that as possible in SU2. Perhaps with a 120Hz or higher monitor, but not in my case, which is fine with me as I will just stick to TAA.

No and no, since you asked, and just to be very clear. Cheers!

I don’t understand all these profile meanings, so are you saying its still a good idea to force the latest in nvidia app?

While I don’t know the answer to that outside of beta, since we are posting in a beta thread about a new feature, we should probably not force anything not set by SU2 right here. Let’s keep this thread about what we are seeing/finding in the feature set enabled by SU2 please.

Profiles J and K are the new models implemented in DLSS v4, known as “Transformer Models.” So, there’s no need to manually force anything from the panel, as it already uses the new models by default. However, you can force it if you want to use the very latest version of the DLSS v4 library that has been released, but it will still be DLSS v4 (it’s just a minor version update, 310.1 vs. 310.2).

ymmv, but I would recommend uninstalling the NVidia app as it’s still a bit dodgy. Just use NVidia Control Panel to set a global performance profile (there’s debate over doing individual game profiles as well, but I can’t be bothered doing that anymore and just use global) and use Nvidia Profile Inspector to set a global DLSS4 override for all games that use DLSS.

Doing it this way you always have the latest DLSS4 as deployed by NVidia, and once a game is configured for DLSS4 you should be fine, as it appears MSFS 2024 now is with SU2.

With NVidia profile inspector you can import/export the settings to quickly reconfigure the NVidia Control Panel when testing, which is handy as its UI is slow.

OTOH, I have read many posts recently that uninstalling the Nvidia app is not necessary anymore, at least with the newer cards that benefit from the latest drivers. With a recent PC and card, it’s ok for a casual user in MSFS to leave it installed. This will be veering off topic but for those of us who were on Xbox and recently moved to PC, this is not really something that HAS to be done, my friend @RomoRocket . Cheers!

You’ll find out eventually why you’ll want to uninstall it (for now).

My issue with the nVidia App really has nothing to do with performance. It’s that it keeps squawking at me if I don’t update the driver right away or my in-game graphics settings don’t match its “recommended” settings. So I turned off the nagging by uninstalling it. Wish I had that option with my spouse.

@Sonicviz, it looks like you were able to answer your own questions by trying out DLSS settings in SU2 Beta, but if you need further info on my analysis, let me know.

All good, thanks.
That said, I did manage to lock it up and finally CTD, so it’s still got a ways to gođŸ€·

Part of that is my system limitations though, so I just need to stay in the performance box.
I need to bump my old reliable 3700x up to a 5700x (best value last upgrade for AM4) to match the 4070 I replaced ye olde reliable 2060 with. Maybe AM5 next year sometime.

Update: This is far from stable, upon further testing. TLOD changes seems especially twitchy, which could be related to Still very long loading time after start flight - #22 by Squibby6134

I use DLSS indicator to verify the version.
Indeed I see this version, but with preset E.
Does anyone else have that?

Latest version, It says V310.1.0 Preset: E for me as well.

Absolutely. Far too many people still think FG and LS are “fixes” for low FPS situations when the truth is actually the opposite.

Me too, from version 1.4.9.0. They take one step forward and one step back with each release LOL. Let’s back to forcing again through profile inspector

I am using profile inspector to force the latest DLSS version and profile in the global profile and haven’t had an issue since I set it up that way a few weeks ago, regardless of what flavour of MSFS has come out in that time.

Here it is with 1.4.9.0 right now:

I was reading that DLSS 3.10.1 now only has profiles J and K replacing profiles from earlier versions (A-F). If it is set to a profile that is not existing anymore it would assume it defaults to J, but who knows perhaps this may cause instabilities. I would recommend setting this to K.
