DLSS Enabler Multi Frame Generation for all GPUs! - Game changer!

Just a reminder: Multi Frame Generation DLSS Enabler for all GPUs is still in an experimental stage. This means it should not be used for regular gaming if performance and game stability matter to you.

It is also not recommended for use during beta testing of MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024.

Multi Frame Generation is officially reserved for RTX 50xx GPUs. But what if I told you that, for some time now, it’s been made available for all GPUs? What NVIDIA won’t give us, the community delivers.

ADDITIONAL STEP FOR AMD / INTEL USERS ONLY:
Install version 3.02 first using the installer, then overwrite the appropriate file with the 4.0.0.4 DLL (rename it to match the installation mode selected in 3.02 setup — see allowed filenames above)

Here’s a link to a modification that adds Multi Frame Generation support to GPUs that don’t have it.

https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/757

:information_source: Important: if you have an NVIDIA GPU and you previously selected Frame Generation FSR3 in MSFS, turn off Frame Generation before installing mod. Running the mod with FSR3 can cause CTDs. After installing the mod and launching MSFS, select Frame Generation NVIDIA DLSS , not FSR3.

Installation is very simple. Download the mod, extract it, and move the version.dll file into the folder where your FlightSimulator.exe or FlightSimulator2024.exe or is located. That’s it.

Here’s proof that it works. I have an RTX 4090, so normally the maximum I should see is x2

After installing the mod, the multiplier goes up to x4.

Keep in mind that the mod is still in Tech Preview phase, so if you experience any CTD … just wait for the final version.

I have an RTX 4090 and for testing purposes, I only downloaded the DLSS Enabler 4.0.0.7 TECH PREVIEW. After downloading, there was just one file version.dll, which I moved to the folder where I have the MSFS exe.

EDIT

@EJNorth7673
I know you’re wondering how this works with a 60Hz monitor. I decided to test it and set my monitor to 60Hz, then launched MSFS. It runs smoothly without any stuttering. I should add that I don’t have the NVIDIA app and I haven’t modified any game DLL files.

Installed the patch and it works great. But VR no longer functions that is a no go for me sad to say

I have given this a try, even though I only fly in VR.

What I found was that 4x was available and selectable in the menu and appeared to work fine. I also noticed that with 4x selected that the framerate was reduced from around 1.4ms to around 0.4ms in Quality mode.

In VR mode it makes no difference at all but I went into VR mode, VirtualDesktop, and had no issues at all.

What I would say is even if you fly in VR try it as it may work OK for you as it did for me.

If you are one of those that suffers from stutters due to your framerate it has to be worth a look to see if it helps reduce those.

For those that are interested I have an RTX4080 Super.

Is FG hardware accelerated using this Enabler?

Nice option. I tried another frame generator called lossless scaling that worked pretty well with my AMD gpu. But, if you want to be factual about it, a lot of this is just psychological Improvement. Some people really go too far with this. The human eye can’t see the difference between 60 and 200 frames per second. Maybe fun to talk about but it’s really academic.

So is this still only for the main monitor and not for multi-monitor setups yet? I use the AMD frame generation option with my nvidia GPU because I can get 2x FG on all 3 of my monitors and would rather have that even though the nvidia FG can go 3x or 4x but only works on the main monitor.

Here we go again…

Not trying to beat a dead (or struggling) horse but it’s just a fact. Why do you think movies and video have been 30-40 FPS for a century ? Who would complain if their sim was consistently as good as a movie or video? :upside_down_face:

Now getting 25 FPS to behave like 50FPS would be a worthy improvement, for sure. But worrying about going from 40 to 80, or 60 to 120, etc. is pointless.

Yes, the human eye can perceive motion and smoothness well over 60 frames per second. While 30–60 fps is generally considered sufficient for fluid motion, the brain can detect higher refresh rates—often up to 100–240 Hz—as increased smoothness, responsiveness, and reduced flicker. The “60 fps limit” is a common misconception. While 60 Hz prevents noticeable flicker for many, higher refresh rates (120Hz/144Hz/240Hz) are clearly visible to many people, especially in fast motion gaming.
Human vision is not limited to 30 or 60 Hz; studies suggest the brain can process, react to, or detect visual information at much higher rates, with some studies suggesting capabilities approaching 200+ FPS in specific conditions. The brain relies on a mechanism that blends consecutive images, which allows for smooth motion at 60 fps, but still benefits from higher frame rates to reduce motion blur and increase fluidity. The ability to perceive higher frame rates varies; trained individuals like gamers often notice the difference between 60Hz and 144Hz immediately..

This was just a paste and copy AI…interesting I say. Keywords for me were “Trained Individuals”.. “Refresh rates”..“Fast motion”..I think this is where the disagreement comes..as well as the "persons"own opinion..I’d agree though, when all these individual hardware setups come into play, it could be a “hurrah” moment for some, nothing better than your hardware fitting your taste, no argument from me here. You can’t cheat your monitors refresh rate capabilities regardless, and your hardware can only be so tweaked, it’s just the nature of the beast..it all has limits…But me?, I’m at 60hz 4k..all my monitor and hardware is capable of, without lowering resolution..If I had the monitor to push 240hz @4k, with Ultra settings, I’d probably want it too, whether I needed it or not, it’s just the way the ball bounces somehow. .You paid good money for your hardware. Your money, Use it if you got It I say, can’t fuss with that. Just my 2 cents, and that is just what it’s worth, 2 cents…

Anyone know how to fix? Both version.dll and enabler upscaler.dll is in my directory with the msfs.exe file

Walls of text that doesnt help anyone on this topic.. disconnect that please and leave the people who want to actually discuss the topic of 4x multigen on all GPUs to do that

Warning - this might not play nice with Reshade!

Thank you. That’s very interesting on a scientific basis. When I’ve used frame generation, and it has worked, I can see some artifacts at times such as flickering over water or other weird things that are not that bad but why put up with it if I’m not really going to see an improvement? So I think all this driving for 120 frames per second etc is not worth the effort. Maybe the brain can perceive a difference but, like I said, If the simulator is a smooth as watching a video or film I am certainly not going to complain and I’d rather put my efforts, tweaks and resources into something else.

I am giving it a go, but on my system (4090 with 591.74 driver) it seems to quarter the normal window, and the remaining 3/4s is remants of the globe from the free flight menu plus a very dark outline of my cockpit:

Also, setting 3X gives me 120 FPS, but so does setting it to 4X ie. it should be 160 FPS.

Edit: Ignore FPS not going above 120. I have a global cap of 120 FPS as that’s what my TV maxes out at and that is what was causing it. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Edit2: Thought the 1/4 screen my be my windows scaling, which I have set to 225%. I set it to 100% and it still does it.

Edit3: Switching to TAA puts the screen back to normal, but I’d rather use DLSS. Strange that a DLSS mod doesn’t work with DLSS.

Edit4: Last one. Changing DLSS quality level changes the size of properly rendered part of the screen. DLSS Perf gives exactly 1/4, DLSS Ultra Quality gives around 3/4, so it seems to be proportional to the scaling done by a specific quality level. DLAA doesn’t work at all.

Anyway, good concept but not ready to use on my system at least.

What a great find! Just one DLL and now my aging 3090 has DLSS MFG! Working really well so far, thanks for posting OP!

Film is limited by the speed at which it can be physically moved through the camera and projector, as well as the time required to expose each frame. Television was historically linked to the frequency of the electricity supply, hence 50Hz in Europe and 60 in the US.

Also, film and TV watching are both passive - there’s no concept of latency between user input and what’s displayed on screen. Simply watching moving images is very different to interacting with them.

The latter point is why many people are opposed to using frame generation, despite the higher fps.

I saw a thread on it, and i think i’m not alone, but, the settings of ×3 or ×4 reset at each launch of the game to ×2.
