DLSS Main Thread - Latest Version 310.7.0, Feedback and Tips - discussion

Grainy clouds seem to be a random thing for me. Flying at the busier times of the week/day seem to bring them which tends to make me think it’s a streaming issue more than code. Even when they do come though (generally in high cloud cover) they are no more than a minor annoyance. You’ll see a bit of pixelation around newly formed clouds that eventually disappears.

DLSS Swapper v1.2.5.0 Update released

FYI, DLSS Swapper automatically notifies you about available updates whenever you launch the application. It’s still worth opening it from time to time to check for new versions.

You can also manually check for updates in the Settings at the bottom under the About section.

Just a friendly reminder

This is just a gut feeling, but I would be majorly surprised if anything related to the actual cloud rendering is streamed… I’d put money on that! The underlying weather data, sure, but nothing related to visuals. I think the grainy/blurry/pixelated clouds are just artifacts that turn up under specific conditions and as a result of how it it’s implemented.

I think it’s mainly related to specific lighting conditions, possibly interacting with specific cloud types.

Maybe the effect you are seeing is not related to traffic directly, but to the time of day (which correlates with traffic to some extent).

In the new Sim Update 6 beta released today (July 6, 2026) v1.8.5.0, DLSS 4.5 is now default, so the base DLSS version has updated from 310.1.0 to 310.6.0, which should offer a big improvement to those who have never ‘overriden’ their DLSS.

Without dlss overriding, does this now default to preset M with dlss/Performance/High Performance, and preset K with Quality//Balanced? Last time I tried just overwriting the dlss files on my Steam installation folder, all I got was preset C and D. Thanks.

I believe so, it uses the NVIDIA defaults.

When I loaded DLSS Quality, it defaulted to 310.6 and Preset K (previously 310.1 Preset E).

Hi, to get the best quality with the least ghosting effect, should I force the m preset to quality?

It lets you but it is a massive amount of processing, and may overwhelm your gpu.

It depends on a lot of factors, such as your PC hardware, the resolution you’re playing at and your MSFS graphics settings.

For example, I play in 4K on an RTX 5090 with 64 GB of RAM and a Ryzen 7 9850X3D. With that setup, I’m able to use the Quality M and it works well for me.

You’ll need to test what works best for your own hardware and MSFS settings, since the ideal preset can vary quite a bit from one system to another.

As for the visual quality, I think Quality M looks pretty good - almost perfect.

Did you also try DLAA?

I tried the native DLSS in SU6 beta, but unfortunately it’s quite blurry on the instruments, without many improvements from the old native DLSS as far as I remember.

I’ll continue using preset M through the Nvidia app.
