DLSS v3.1.1 released!

dont understand…nothing? Well, not more FPS, but much, much higher resolution.

This caused me mega stutters with the original beta release so I took the nuclear option of reinstalling MSFS … However this time (remembering to rename and back up Asobo’s own nvngx offering to a different location) I have reinstalled SU12 beta and the nvngx 3.1.1 dll to good effect - Seems perfect and I’d say my back up can now be safely deleted (but I won’t just yet )

My store installation has no Content folder, nor does it have a dll of that name. The swapper app failed to locate a game with it either.

It’s in
C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator
on my rig

Me too!
Everybody with a standard MS store installation has it.

I don’t have C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator

Everyone with a standard household has a microwave oven. I don’t.

Does that mean I don’t have a standard household, or does it mean the assertion was incorrect?

again, for Store version owners, it’s in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.31.20.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

however, that’s a heavily protected folder where you cannot exchange files. I can only assume that the new version of the DLSS file will be introduced during an update of MSFS itself. I tried a zillion different things to get read/write access to this folder, but it’s ‘sandboxed’ and any attempt was useless sofar + you risk of having to reinstall all kinds of stuff.

Edit: depending on your version and if you are in beta or not, the folder name might be different, but in any case in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\ and then look for the flightsimulator folder.

you can move the install out of the locked WindowsApps folder with this

I talk about the “MS store version” and not the Xbox or Steam versions.
Where is your msfs.exe then?

So… after SU 12 we are still on 2.4.12 DLSS from 06.2022 - this is ridiculous …

Just update it manually. DLSS Swapper will do it easily with a few clicks.

Swapper can’t handle the “protected” file if you install from Microsoft Store.

The question is. Why Asobo didnt ?? Is there no any benefits?? Last version is from 24.03.2023…

Because unlike us they have to test thoroughly before they make such changes

I have the Store version and can use Swapper. I have the sim installed on my G: drive rather than C: if that makes a difference

Exactly.

You’re wrong mate

What I meant is that Swapper can’t handle the protection problem if MSFS is installed in the default

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.31.22.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

(my experience at least)

My experience too, no way to manually or automatically swap that file in the protected MSFS folder on the C drive.
And as my system is not top notch (3060Ti), I would really like to try the improved Ultra Performance mode of DLSS 3.1.1, which is optimized for 8K and much sharper than this mode in version 2.4.

Are you really sure your nvngx_dlss.dll is not in? - (change drive letter or path to suit)

C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content

I can’t really understand why it shouldn’t be unless you’ve been deliberately avoiding the SUs or Xbox

Be careful as there is also a dlssg file of the same prefix, this must remain there
