Dlss3 Frame Generation greyed out

Good news! Just installed 4080 and had same problem. Turned on HAGS (MS10) and the in FS2020, RESET General settings. Frame Generation was immediately avaliable with VSYNC ON as the default, then switched to DX12 BETA and restarted game. WOW, incredible performance with all settings on Ultra!!

Enable HAGS in MS10/11. In FS2020 General Settings, reset to default, then change to DX12 BETA, restart game and Frame Generation will be enabled. I installed 4080 and that worked - I also changed setting from Auto to Quality and all Ultra settings and performance blows away my 3080ti. Perfectly smooth in all high density cities, even with my Z470 Aorus and i9 9700KF.

Hi bud! Great that worked out for you :ok_hand:t2: don’t you mean i7 9700kf ? As have never heard of i9 9700kf :face_holding_back_tears:

Thanks for the post. I am having the same issue (F.G. Grayed out). I tried it with and without the second GPU installed. “My setup is very different than many in that I am running 3 55” 60Hz (native) displays on the RTX 4090 and 4 1080p 60hz displays on a second GPU (GTX1650). Why? The RTX4090 is providing the Center view while the two side displays are the Left and Right Multi-View for a 270 degree FOV. The other displays are for 3 RSG Avionics and 1 utility display for stuff like Discord and Simbrief."
I am running a 5800X3D with 32GB GSKILL CL18 (2x16) and the OS and MSFS are installied on a 2 TB NVME M.2 drive on a EVGA X570 DARK MoBo. As you can see I need all the Horsepower I can muster to and wish, too, we could run two sessions on two networked PC, to share the workload, but I digress.

I get where you’re coming from and wonder if anyone, besides me, is running a 4090 with the 5800X3D. The issue with comparing performance against fellow Content Creators is there are so many variables and most don’t tell you the whole story. I can tell you a Straight across comparison (changing only the GPU) from my previous 2080TI KingPin Hybrid GPU ( Mt.Ever. Tour - 40-60 FPS) to the 4090 Suprim X Liquid is 165 to 180 FPS).

It’s January 29, 2023 and I’m not in the Beta. Without the UserCFG.opt edit I am getting 175 to 180 FPS in the Mt.Everest tour. Changing 0 to 1 I still have a grayed out Frame Generator but my FPS is now 260 FPS so it is working. Hopefully Asobo will get this sorted out before SU12. It is worth noting that some of us who build custom Cockpits have more Screens than a single GPU can support (4) and thus are running two (2) GPUs in the same PC. I have my 4090 as the MAIN SCREEN for the Windows, and where my Triple Displays are set. Hopefully Asobo can see to it that all these great features can be focused on the GPU of choice.

I had this problem, I have more than 4 screens and was running a 970 along side the 4090 as a second gpu just for screens. With a second GPU like the 970 it doesn’t recognise the system as having a 4090 anymore, or sees the 970 as the primary GPU and as a result no frame generation options at all.

This is still an issue. The cfg fix works for me, but would be nice if they got around to fixing the bug

Same for me

With a rtx 4080 and Windows 10, and all the latest drivers and HAGS ON ,directx Beta12 ON and with many restarts/reboots resetting to Default, changing dx11, back to directx 12 Beta etc.

Tried all said here in Forum, was still greyed out. Only the value Change in user.xfg dlssg to 1 activates Frame Generation.

Frame Generation works now but such tweaks are unresonable. Other Software Developers implementing frame Generation do not have these problems

Same issue here. Still greyed out. Checked all relevant settings.
Edited the config file but can’t notice any change if FPS. I just test by starting a flight at the Empire State building.
The feature does work though, Cyberpunk 2077 consistently gains about 30% FPS with frame generation enabled.
Using Steam launched, non Beta build. 4080 upgraded from 2080.

I just updated to the latest beta and it appears to be fixed

Nothing is more annoying than people not reading the threads and suggesting the obvious over and over again. I had this problem at least twice and, like many above, tried and tried the same things without success.

I think the answer is: there is a particular order to how you have to enable hardware acceleration, frame generation and DLSSG to 1. I’m not entirely sure I paid enough attention, but it mysteriously showed up. I noticed my user.cfg file was NOT saving the DLSSG change to 1.

I did the following, worth a shot:

  1. Fresh boot, changed hardware acceleration and variable refresh rate to ON. Rebooted whole PC.
  2. Upon boot, went to MSFS and Options, changed DirectX to DirectX12 beta. Rebooted. (Did not change the DLSS settings yet).
  3. Upon reboot, checked HW acceleration, still on. Went to MSFS, and changed anti aliasing to DLSS Super Resolution, put the setting on Quality saved settings and rebooted,.
  4. Upon fresh boot, checked Hardware Accceleration, and it was still on, checked User.cfg AND it was back to 0 not 1 for DLSSG.
  5. Changed the setting DLSSG from 0 to 1 again, saved and rebooted again.
  6. Upon reboot, went straight to MSFS and lo and behold Frame Generation was ON (but ghosted).

I think it had something to so with setting the user.cfg AFTER all the changes in MSFS and their associated reboots (when it says MSFS needs to restart, I was actually doing a reboot of the whole PC, not just a restart of MSFS to be safe).

Hope this or some other magic combination works for you.

SU12 is out today and sure enough, the greyed out option is fixed and now selectable.

Are you sure?

When you save the userCfg after changing DLSSG to 1, need you to activate read only option in the properties of the file? Which app did you use to modify userCfg file? notpad++ is fine?
Thank for your help

Yes. notepad. I didn’t make read only. Also I think you need to re do this cfg file edit after each SU update (though that could be wrong)

I just upgraded my computer and everything seems to be setup as discussed here. But I can maybe get 40-50 ish FPS max with my new computer not nearly as much as you guys (150 fps)…
At busy airports with Fenix A320 I get 30FPS…
i5-13600k + RTX 4070 + 32 GB DDR4 running on a 1440p resolution Ultra settings (HAGS & DLSS on).
I would expect to get at least 70-80 FPS with my new specs I know it is not a 4090 card but still…
any clues?
