I bought my 3080FE at the end of 2020 - it works well, and I’m really not planning on upgrading to the 40xx series - I need a CPU/MB/RAM upgrade first! - but if people start reporting massive increases in performance with the 40xx cards and DLSS3… I may be tempted!

Welcome to the world of computer hardware/gadgets? I don’t know where you’re located, but it looked like the US $ price for the 4080 was $200 than the 3080 when it came out - I paid $699 for my 3080FE at the end of 2020.
I’m here crying my eyes out with my 3080 TI. It is only 10 months old and already obsolete!

Dont be. Dlss3 should be available in 3xxx series. What nvidia has done is a very huge finger to people who bought them. I have got an 2xxx series and i could understand no DLSS3 for my card. But for 3xxx?

I had to sell my kidney to buy the 3080 TI during the crypto bubble. I will have to sell my left kidney and be on dialysis just to use DLSS3.

It uses hardware only on the 40xx cards so I don’t think it will ever somehow make it to the 30xx cards.
Guys, yeah it’s disappointing, but that’s the way hardware like this works. 20xx introduced raytracing. 30xx made it useable. 40xx is making DLSS even better. Etc.

A few people earlier in this thread. Which is what I was replying to. Like I’ve said already in this thread VR users are the real beneficiaries of these new cards.
Yea and he said that dlss3 take load from the cpu so the cpu limited games get a big boost
That’s just a marketing lie. They claim it needs an optical flow accelerator to use dlss 3.0. But yet, 3xxx series supports the SDK. But to explain to you simply…What dlss 3.0 is doing is nothing more than frame interpolation. Just the same thing as motion reprojection is doing. There’s NOTHING hardware limiting in 3xxx series that prevents it from using dlss 3.0. I’m sure a hacked driver somewhere along the way will show this. It’s exactly the same as nvidia claimed you need an rtx card to run DLSS 1.0. And amd clearly proved with FSR that that was a lie. What nvidia is doing is trying to monetize a software feature. You even realize how disgusting that is? You have to buy a faster card which will run faster because it will use a “faster” software. This is beyond outrageous. It’s definitelly time to start voting with wallets and not buy that crap. I ride my 3080ti into the sunset, definitelly the last nvidia card i ever bought

I guess Nvidia are desperate to have a marketing reason for people to rush out and buy these GPU’s. The market is currently being flooded with relatively cheap 3080’s and 3090’s now that crypto has crashed plus there’s just the general cost of living crisis effecting people. We won’t see the crazy clamour to own these cards that we saw in late 2020 with the launch of the 3000 series.
Its weird to have two 4080’s in the line up. Why not just call one a 4070?
