Not a MSFS problem, but Skyvector, which is my chart of choice. I have recently been flying up through the centre of the USA. I have encountered a number of problems, at least my limited knowledge thinks there is a problem. I have been looking at airport information and noting the best VOR’s for triangulation. I have entered the information on the nav radios, but then when I go to fly I am not picking up the signal. When I check back on the map, its shown as a DME. This has happened on too many occasions for me to understand. For example KHTS shows ECB as a VOR/DME on the airport text, but the map shows a DME. KBWG shows BWG as a VOR/DME, but the map shows DME.
What am I doing wrong or not understanding?
Hi, you’re not doing anything wrong, it’s just stale information.
Skyvector for KHTS for example does show ECB as DME-only elsewhere on the page.
In our GPS age VORs are being terminated where they aren’t critical. See
FAA MON : the ECB VOR was apparently stopped in September 2020.
So, for VORs, always doublecheck several sources to make sure they still exist.
