During some multiplayer flights, I’ve had the other player say they see me in a completely different aircraft to the one I’m actually flying (we were both in the JMB VL-3 but he saw me in a Bonanza) Which was a bit weird but I digress… my question is, if I buy an add on aircraft like the Mooney, will other players just see some random default aircraft if they haven’t also purchased the Mooney?
The game has some default models which it uses if it doesn’t know your plane.
For example, I have the premium version and my mate don’t. If i use the Zlin Shock Ultra which is not included in the standard version, he sees me as a piper or similar.
I’m pretty sure this will be the same for addon aircraft if your buddy doesn’t have the same addons installed.

I dont know why you consider it “Lame”, a little bit overreacting?
But seriously there are plenty good reasons why that is not done, anbd here is just some of them:
a) some aircraft are paid for/encypted/copyright, the developers/designers don’t want such models to be transfered to user who have not paid for it (such and the Zlin, etc).
b) Bandwith, if all the models have to be transfered to every single user, this will eat up bandwith, espeically if a person has not “optimally” created their models, or maybe even maliciously… imagine, creating a 10GB model, and flyign it in multiplayer, it will be an instant DDOS
c) malicious code in the model. Although the sim uses a sandbox, nothing can be guarenteed 100% safe (after all its still possible to “jailbreak” an iphone, showing even THAT sandbox has been defeated). all it takes is someone finding an exploit, anbd boom, their model is in every other user.
Trust me its better this way!

I’ll chip in for “not lame” here as well. I have no interest if taxiing past a lego sr71 or a millenium falcon and am glad i dont have to.
All fine if you want that sort of thing but not for most of us i expect.
So I think its fine as you can have whatever you want but others arn’t forced into it with you.

Are you done? Jeez. All I want is an exterior representation of the correct aircraft. I’m a pilot and I expect a bit of realism out of the sim, and wouldn’t mind seeing more than just the few stock aircraft throughout the entire world.

Like I said before, I want realism. I’ve been flying for years and flight simming for many more years and would like to see more than just the few stock aircraft populating the entire world.
