Do two World updates in a row mean there will be more opportunities for SU 10?

Because there are separate departments working on WU and SU, this means extra time for SU 10. Should we expect big improvements? I’ve had a comparatively painless experience with updates and look forward to them, and with over 2 months to work on this update it should be interesting.

Yes we should.

Hopefully so. I have been playing on XBOX and the game has been hard to play because of all of the bugs and issues.

Maybe SU10 could be the update that may get the game back on its feet?

I have high hopes for SU-10.
I’m not giving up on this SIM just because of a few rough edges that need to be ironed out.

We should expect huge improvements since they’ll have had 3+ months for development and testing.

Now will we actually get huge improvements? There will be huge changes (DX12 and all that comes with it). Whether or not it will actually work right remains to be seen.

Things that have been said are going into Sim Update 10:

(For those who use translation software to read the forums, use this link.)

Additionally, we know from previous Developer Q&As that:

  • AMD FSR may be launched in Sim Update 10, however, it may not be version 2.0 at this time (source)
  • Multi-monitor support (or perhaps some stripped-down version – it sounds like they are having issues) may be available (source)

Looking very interesting then. My system runs the sim beautifully with DX11, but I really want to see what DX12 will bring.

This one I really wouldn’t count on for SU10. I’d be happy to see it, but wouldn’t be expecting it.

I’m already pretty happy with the state of the sim and have come to expect some unintentional but weirdly maddening and inexplicable bugs with each update that will get fixed a couple of updates later.

It’s always best to look a few week’s past the update imo rather than update day itself.

For example, based on all the previous updates, the day they finally switch us over to DirectX12 will be a disaster for many of us for a couple of weeks. There will be a huge increase in CTD’s, many third party add ons will likely stop working and have to be updated, and for some performance will get patchy if not outright unplayable.

Then Asobo will start to fix it back up again with a series of patches and updates and we’ll be a much better place a couple months down the line than before we had DirectX12 as standard.

Just accept that major Asobo updates are like life saving chemotherapy treatments. In the longterm they are essential to give a long life to the sim, and they will fix all of its maladies, but in the short term the treatment will be painful, your sim will throw up a lot and often won’t be able to get out of bed.

If you accept that then whatever the updates bring on day 1 is largely inconsequential.

We might expect them, it doesn’t mean we’ll get them. Before every SU people start getting excited that ‘this will be the one’, then on release it doesn’t fix most of the most significant bugs/flaws and invariably breaks a bunch of new things.

Personally I can’t think of anything that has improved in the 13 months since I bought it. Meanwhile:

  • weather has gotten worse, visually and wind effect
  • menu UI functionality is worse
  • ATC is worse since it started spelling out random words, speaking punctuation etc.
  • plane flight models are worse e.g. A320 climb rate
  • I now have to set at a lower LOD for the same performance, and visuals are worse, terrain morphing has increased etc

Sorry you feel that way. I don’t expect this update to “be the one”, as that will never happen. That’s the nature of the beast. My point was that given the extra time the team has for this SU, should we expect more. Whether it be stability or optimisation. Maybe I had a low benchmark coming from FSX with no add ons, but this base sim still impresses me greatly.

what sort of timeframe should we wait for?
