Does anyone else find the music annoying that still plays when starting even though music volume is 0?

No only you  I have this music off but sometimes I turn on because it’s relaxing.
But why I turned off? Because sometimes I just like to be relaxing without any music. But this music is not depressing at all.
A matter of taste I guess

I bought this sim for the music !!!

I did open a zendesk ticket because the ATC is not singing to me
and the A320 does not sound like a violin.

I replaced the opening “Press Any Key” video with something I like, and if I had a way to open the archive that contains the sound file, I’d do the same there. Probably some Pink Floyd

Good choice.
I once saw a video of two gliders set to ‘Us and Them’
Talk about capture the moment.
Splendid!

My video is a bit more visually pleasing. It features both ladies and airplanes.

And if you’re mind is in the gutter, don’t worry - it’s very much “PG” rated.

I find it a nice touch that you can choose the music that played in FSX

During install if you want to mute the music as I do because my install takes some hours, I right click on the speaker icon on the task bar, open the Volume Mixer & mute the sound for the sim.

Everybody who says it’s awful music did not have had a gameboy :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

At least it’s not this music

the one from FSX i think it was track 3 or track 2

Honestly, if you have to put any kind of “mood” music in, I’d say resurrect “title.wma” from Windows XP. I’m betting half the membership of this forum has no clue what I’m talking about, but it was a genuinely good piece of music, and still holds up today. I still have an original copy that I extracted from the OOBE folder in my first XP box 20 years ago!

Quite liked the music to start with, now not so much as I associate it with likelihood of crash, failure, hours spent trying to fix problems I shouldn’t have to.

Do I care as much as I care about ASOBO fixing the aircraft bugs? One million percent NO.

I think it’s the whole startup process that feels tedious, immature and unthought. It’s not clean and easy.

My only complaint is that despite changing the music to colour 2 which for me is a much better piece, it still plays snippets of colour 1.

It’s ASOBOs leetle yoke

I don’t want to hear the music, so I’ve chosen the provided option not to hear it

On startup, the music plays (still), then reaches the bit of code on the startup options and thinks ‘Ooops, I shouldn’t be playing this
’ and it stops.

Given the tediously long startuip process, why waste the (infinitessimally small, granted) length of time to load music that the programme has already been told not to play?

It is minor in the scheme of things, but it’s just indicative of a sometimes slipshod overview of the implementation of what is mainly a stunning piece of software.

Also my issue.

I rather dislike the music. I find it quite annoying. I would rather not hear it at all. I have the option in menus to mute it, so I do. Yet, I still have to listen to it when starting up the game.

Plus, even if I want to change the music to one of the more bearable options, it STILL plays that annoying music at startup regardless of the music option I chose.

Yeah, those are minor things and should be low priority over more pressing issues. But this is just another example of poor design choices in game.

Seems like it would be a fairly easy code change to:

  • Get music preference - A, B, C, or None
  • Play music preference

You nailed it. It is made more annoying because it suggests a less than well thought out approach which unfortunately is visible throughout parts of the sim

I wish there was a checkbox that just disabled the music entirely - Even with the music volume at zero, it’s still playing in the background, consuming precious resources.
Thanks
