Does MSFS run well for Xbox users (top model!) now here in late 2023?

Beta testing and forum feedback are a mixed bag, some of the feed back is garbage some is good. This is true of any test cycle for any game. It all comes down to how thorough the report is and if the team can replicate it internally.

Also, likely many people never experience those issues and happily play the game and never report that on the forums either. We lack the data to make a valid claim in either direction as to the percentage of users affected or not affected by any given issue.

To be clear in no way am I attempting to imply that there are no issues, I just do not think we can predict the extent the issues affect any specific user group or the user base as a whole without more data. I think this is true of any game not just MSFS.

Im on Xbox series s and it runs great, I would recommend it to anyone I know. and theres plenty of people who complain about their pc performance as well as people on xbox. Perfect performance is something we are all chasing for and something we will never find lol. It just comes down to how much performance you want and how much you want to spend… and many of us find the xbox to be a suitable solution.

Im having positively no issues with MSFS on my X series console AND Im running in 4k.

NOTE: Im running vanilla state, (standard, deluxe, premium), no WU’s, or 3rd party stuff except 2 planes and 2 helicopters.

The LOD is excellent too :+1:

I tried the XBOX Series S about 10 months ago when it was on sale for $239. Anyway, I thought it ran super smooth. My PC had better graphics, but the S was doable for the convenience’s sake of having it under your TV all the time and ready to go at a moment’s notice. What I couldn’t handle was the constant scenery pop-ups. If that ever get’s better, I may give it a go again at some point. I have purchased marketplace liveries and the PMDG 737 just for the purpose of getting one down the road. My laptop is 4 years old now.

Well there’s really nothing to dial down as Xbox’s graphics are pretty much set in stone. Dial back expectations would be more like it.

I too have the S series (Carbon Black 1TB) that just came out in September. I have that console in the basement running on a 43" 4k TV in 1440p. No issues with it either. LOD is fine as well. :+1:

The performance of the console is not a concern, the real problem is the lack of content compared to PC, they take too long to come to marketplace or they do not come at all.

That we both agree on.

Very happy with the performance on my series X. I do not add scenery and use a few payware planes. I do hope we get some freeware function in the marketplace because of all the improvement mods out there.

To be fair, you do have to choose your add-ons wisely if you want good stability. I have bought the odd airport — knowing it’s a bit dodgy on Xbox — simply because I wanted it and there was no alternative offering from another dev. I have to be mindful of the Xbox’s limited memory and work around it by restricting my view-swapping and any use of the drone cam.

I have over 70 add-ons now and I can count on one hand the number that give me any real trouble.

Yeah, it’s running good, and getting better. I’d have no problem at all recommending this game on Xbox. I’d recommend a mouse.

I used a Xbox series X for 3 hours….Never again horrid fps Horrid everything Buy a PC it will be much worth it in the long run

One thing no one seems to want to acknowledge is that many console users replace their systems more often than PC users. It’s not as crazy as iPhone users, to be sure. But there’s an old maxim in the computer business: Better hardware leads to more complex software, which in turn requires more powerful hardware. This is triply so for gaming/simulations.

The difference is that I can upgrade my PC’s components without replacing the entire system. Console users don’t really have that option.

We all make budgetary decisions. I’m hopeful that MS2024 will help both Xbox and PC users get more performance and more life out of the hardware they’ve chosen.

I used my xbox 1 for ten years, (and I can still cloud game msfs 2020 on it), just recently got the series s… and the thing is, the “upgrades” and maintenance on pc are often more costly then buying the latest xbox.

(but to be fair, pc does have many benefits for the higher pricetag and I would have one myself if I could afford it.)

I wonder if you are the norm, or the exception.
Heck, I have a friend who still uses her old flip phone.

yeah, I got a new one about the same time as my friends, but thats definitely a small sample size lol… Im sure someone has does a little study on it somewhere.

Late 2022 purchased a Xbox S just for MSFS. Six months later and a ton of MP add-ons started to see memory problems. Once the PMDG 737 came out I decided to upgrade to Xbox X. Been very happy but have noticed LOD distance reductions since SU13 hope that trend does not continue and yes lots of black screen but as long as you know where you can take off from and land at, you can get by.

Oh, it’s a pitty. Want to try out it once it’s done anyway  . With the realistic simulators like NLR, Yawr or DOF reality. Know this is possible without VR with XboX but needs some quite ‘smart’ setup. But with VR it must be on a top level.

Xbox was running fine up until this latest update. Now it freezes on loading (100%) then doesn’t go anywhere, even after 5 mins. Dreaded white dot is back. I even reinstalled by downloading my digital copies, same issues, I tried the DVD set I have for Xbox, same issues. I don’t feel like using MSFS anymore. I had trust and faith in it and once more it has let me down and disappointed me again for the umpteenth time. I don’t want to waste anymore time with MSFS reinstalling it over and over again, troubleshooting over and over again hoping one day MSFS will work without constant bugs, fixes, patches.:pensive:
