Don't buy used Cessna 208B Gran Caravan in Career mode

So Guys!

after finally got money to afford to buy a Gran Caravan spending around 3.000.000 I had to repair it. I did the repair little by little after charter private jet money mission.

I aborted 3 flight beacuse of stability problem with the Caravan, and today, following checklist and everything, I had to abort the last mission…and at the hangar after a tech check this is the situation!!!

very frustrating!

Ouch - that’s gotta hurt.

I’ve had a lot of success with the 208b. There’s several life hacks that you need to learn with the 208b to make it useful, like if you go to flight idle it falls out of the sky like a rock. Also be mindful of the throttle detent, I opt to use the keyboard to force the plane to flight idle and then reverse instead of my controller. If you plan on using simrate, make sure you set VS to 0 and don’t use ALT mode on the AP.

I use the 208b for medium cargo and it generates a good return, around 800k-1.2 million per flight.

The plan was exactly the same…medium cargo mission to speed up the ROI. So do u think that they were my mistakes or bugs or wrong second hand plane?

Repaired and flying…wish me luck

had 3 flights with my 208, sadly 2 of them the “engine shutdown” event never triggerd…

I agree with this advice! I got the cheapest Caravan and tried to fly a mission with it without any repairs, it was very difficult to fly. After two attempts of aborting my missions when the plane almost fell out of the sky, I repaired it enough to sell it. I might try getting a new 208 when I can get some more money, but now the VIP missions are gone so I don’t have a great way to make money in the meantime… :frowning:

maybe wrong second hand airplane? I’ve never had maintenance that bad on the caravan and I used it extensively to build my cargo company

Hm, should have searched for that one… Would have saved me 8-11 missions with light cargo.
Just bought the 208B after days of grinding to finally get a bit more revenue as there is currently another bug that few missions don’t spawn.
Bad idea.
Sold my 3 Cessnas and the Vision (as currently no Charter missions…), bought it for 2.6m, need now 700k repair and there is NO mission at all spwaning. The plane is vital, few parts need to maintain but yeah, for what do we have “to maintain” if it is excluding missions like “out of order” and why the F can we buy a plane, what need 65% buying cost to get any mission at all.

→ So yeah, don’t buy it used… (maybe, just maybe, there are missions for a new plane. But you never know.)

Who buys cheap buys twice, ha. ha.

The “used” function is a nice afterthought, but useless in a game with planes as you don’t want to be caught with a failing engine, a failing rudder or halfway broken landing gear or electronics. Car games are ok with used products, but this game just handles “used” vehicles wrong. Used planes are a liability, they cost more to get going and are not rare enough for thiose costs. At least in Gran Turismo, there were used cars you can’t buy in the new cars catagory.

I wish I haven’t buyed a used plane in career mode.
I wish I hadn’t bought a new Vision Jet afterwards just to see there isn’t a single mission for it available.
Also I wish I hadn’t bought FS 2024. It’s so unbelievably bad.

Before buying a used aircraft, check out the “details” in the maintenance overview, paying close attention to the engine condition. Maybe it is possible to find a used aircraft where the engine (or engines) aren’t close needing overhaul/replacement – but I’ve not come across that yet.

You can use the used version but you have to repair the most vulnerable high rate items first, then use the funds from the first two flights to finish repairing the Caravan.

You should be familiar with the Caravan before flying the one you own. You cannot fly full throttle, even on take-off.
You do not need to adjust the prop pitch. In real life it’s mainly used for comfort to reduce the RPM / noise.
The brakes are not great and cause the plane to wobble a lot. Use thrust reverser instead.
