Very sad end possibly to this beautiful bird. I read a lot of comments of the video blaming the pilots etc, Well landing at these places can not be easy
I didn’t even know this aircraft is still in use… It belongs in a museum.
Luckily no soul suffered from this accident.
The bad thing is that over time those old birds will vanish. Accidents, old age, lack of spare parts. In a 100 years from now many will only live in the simulator.

Oh I saw it yesterday, it hurts to watch
Might have had the parkingbrake on? (tracks in the sand?)
Such a shame to lose such a distinguished aircraft.
Yeah there are several still on service for Everet Air in Alaska. Hauling cargo out in the cold.
Ouch!
Look’s like they may have hit a small berm on the far side of the runway / dirt strip. Seems like a tough approach into there as well!
They hit something or the right gear got caugth in a deep ditch. It’s clear something tore it off…
Sad ending indd
That was clearly a very rough bad airstrip, if you can even call it that.
I see, I would have opt for a ATR or a Grand Caravan that’s still in production to haul cargo in remote places like that.
I worry about strips less than 3500’ - let alone a narrow dirt strip. That’s a sad photo on the accident report. Pilot error.
ah, just a scratch.
these things should be flying, people have to see, hear and smell them.
museums are for taxonomists or 1:1 scale modelers.
Those people and water trailer were way too close to where the plane was trying to land. It looked like the pilot could have lined up better if they weren’t there….(deleted)
@hobanagerik posted photos of the approach down a few posts and there you can see there is a dogleg right where the pilot was approaching for touchdown. He was just low and touched down early. Still obviously dangerous for those waiting.
Ouch. At 00:19 - 00:20 you can see the right hand main gear rip off. They almost clipped that hill on the way in as well. That’s no way to go.
Oh, that’ll buff right out.
I don’t see a problem here. Just turn off crash damage and hit Y twice.
Watching at 25% speed - at around 20 seconds, there appeared to be 3 lumps of earth - wheels were on it at 19s and then missing when they ought to have came back into shot at 21s
Clearly the pilot didn’t purchase the PMDG DC-6 for MSFS.
I guess you could say that gear got… tired… I’ll show myself out…
I think the plane was not the problem, but that so called runway
Not the plane, no. But that approach looked a little cavalier.
