Double Request IFR Clearance

Once I’ve made an IFR flight plan using the world map, and at cruising altitude, I see another button saying that I can request an IFR flight plan. Does anybody know why that is?

I thought in the past (and I could be misremembering it), that prompt would show up if you changed your flight plan mid-flight. You’d need to refile the altered plan.

It’s possible that prompt was always displayed and it reads as it does, because you would simply be refilling the same flight plan you’re currently on since you haven’t altered it.

It’s always been there depending upon which sector controller you were under at the time.

I’ve hit it once before to see what it does, the difference is that ATC doesn’t give you descents when you get close to the airport.

What is it designed to do, assuming you’ve already filed a flight plan?

Not sure of the original intent. For me as a player, if I got my clearance cancelled (usually because I was afk and missed ATC prompts), I’d use it to refile my plan.

From what I understand, the game thinks you haven’t filed a flight plan even though you did using the world map.

Once in awhile, the sim atc wont give you descent info in a timely manner. Using the prompt will activate those instructions. Ignore the vector/heading instructions and keep your Auto pilot on Nav, and the system will keep your way points as set in the world map.
This is assuming you’re flying a IFR plan from the World Map.

I’m using World Map IFR more often now since ATC has been patched

I found that related bug report:

So idk if you know this but after taking off something else will appear in the ATC UI, that would be the ifr clearance to [destination] now even though you’ve already gotten clearance, you didn’t say that to the airport nor the ATC center/departure meaning that you have to re-request the ifr plan which isn’t pain but kinda annoying, now along with someone else who said “because you changed the flight plan mid flight” if you’re using (for example) the 747 and you change something, the “request ifr clearance to [destination] will appear back up meaning you have to re-request the ifr flight plan again.

I have a question though, after I finish a flight in (for example) the A320v2 there’s a second flight plan I already entered but I can’t request ifr clearance to the second destination I want to go to, can I fix it or is it just leave redo second flight plan and go back in?

It has something to do with the planes and instruments since it says “file an instrument flight plan”

Where can I do that though?

It usually appears after you takeoff and filed a flight plan using the world map. If you’re talking about not using the world map flight plan, then it usually appears after requesting/ending pushback from the Ground Controller after setting up a flight plan using the FMC or the plane’s equivalent.

No but after pushback it tells me two options [taxi to takeoff options] [taxi to parking and refueling] and even if I click [taxi to takeoff] it just wants me to do a flight following to report back to airport and at this point I think it’s not possible

What plane are you using? Did you setup a flight plan using the plane’s FMC? It usually pops up for me after requesting to stop pushback and going back to the clearance controller. It’s usually option 7.

Well for requesting new flight plan it’s the A320v2 as I have no trouble requesting a new flight plan on the 747 because I made a new one in the FMC but when I make a second flight plan I cannot request ifr clearance so idk.

Yeah, planes like the Airbusv2 aren’t implemented into the game very well. They can’t import the flight plan via the world map so I’ve stayed away from them.

Yeah I think my next flight is gonna be in 747 from Taiwan to California or some ■■■■
