Download is a joke

  1. On a 2mb/s average download speed, never had it take more than 14 hours to download 44gb. I still have 56gb to download. I’ve been downloading since it became available at 2pm my time yesterday (it’s now 9am).

  2. Never have I ever had to restart an installer or launcher as much as I have with this, because it keeps hanging on the download. 15 relaunches and counting.

I haven’t even seen the game itself yet.

Hi @CrazyAussie2010

Just to clarify, is your slow download speed a limitation of your ISP plan or is it something else?

Forget about wifi you need to use the cable

Yep I switched from wifi to ethernet the day I saw the first MSFS trailer. Never went back to wifi since then. Now I get the full 100 mbps as advertised by the ISP

2mb/s to 2.5mb/s average DL speed on everything but this. But I can download 400gb worth of stuff in less time than this has taken to do the 44gb I’ve gotten so far, so it’s not the connection itself. Was about 3 hours to DL FF15, for example.

I get same speeds regardless of cable or wifi.

I started the DL before I went to bed last night. Was done when I woke up…

Okay. Have you tried the steps in this knowledge base article?

Yes, tried it. No real difference in the speed, can’t comment yet on whether I need to relaunch every couple of gb downloaded.

50/20M connection to the ISP on wired 1Gbps LAN. Downloading at around 500Kbps over night. I might see the simulator fully installed in a bout a week. I’m with CrazyAussie. It’s a joke and it looks like we are being treated like Guinea Pigs. I’m also in Australia if it matters. Shame we can’t get the DVD install pack like the Europeans. A tremendous waste of time.

EPlz. So your ISP offers a 100 millibit per second plan? Get it right dude, you lose credibility.

I have seen reports of other Australians having slow downloads, have you filed a support ticket?

CrazyAussie are you withy Aussie Broadband?

Hi Nyx, no I haven’t report a bug and I’m not likely to the day after paying for the Premium Deluxe version. I’ am leaning towards a PayPal refund.
Surely the resources are there to sort this stuff before the official release. I just want what was paid for and don’t have the time to mess around troubleshooting someone else’s problem.

Coincidence, I’m on ABB FTTN. Anything you can share snowplow?

Just reading the Whirlpool thread now. Thanks for the heads-up.

So it looks like MS are not using their CDN, everything is delivered from SeppoLand. We also can’t get the physical DVD version. Nice work LOL.

Will have to use a VPN to get it done.
If you’re on ABB have a read of the Whirlpool post CrazyAussie.

Useless. Stop spreading rumors.

I’m in Sydney and it has been a pretty slow download as well. I’m on a 100mb connection and got through 60 gigs in about 5 hours last night. Still have 30 something gigs remaining so will give it another go after work tonight.

Sorry to hear about the slow download, but I have Aussie friends who constantly complain about this well-know down-under “feature”. Just for reference, I live in Western Canada (Vancouver-ish) Lower Mainland. I have a Shaw Communications network at 5GHz Wi-Fi (ASUS USB 1200 on the PC) unlimited downloads. This 93GB download was error free from STEAM (Server is in Seattle, USA) in under 90 minutes. I also pay over $100CAD monthly for this service. I have not always had this performance with lower-priced networks, so I have to pay for the convenience. At least I can get it here, you may not be able to so I’ve heard…

Which ISP mate?

I am with iiNet. Typical speeds over wifi is between 80-90 megs during the evenings, wired gets very close to 100.

Anyone solved the “Please wait…” hang issue? Happened to me twice at ~30/90 GB progress. Really don’t want to attempt a third install. Tried every troubleshooting tip I’ve found:

  • Switching install folder
  • Running as admin (both steam and msfs) & restarting multiple times
  • Deleting roaming data (in AppData)
  • Disabling antivirus & firewall
  • Unplugging unnecessary USB devices
  • Cmd prompt fix

At this point I’m considering uninstalling completely and trying again next week.
