Download not stream

I thought that we would be able to download the content instead of always streaming it. Am I wrong? Or does it involve some witchcraft

You can download specific content like the base content or World/City Updates. Does it make sense? If you have a very slow Internet connection, maybe. Downloaded Content slows down the simulator start significantly, and if it is not downloaded, it is stored in the Rolling Cache and has also only downloaded once (but does not slow down the simulator start).

So you should really only download the content you use very often. If you have a fast Internet connection, download nothing.

I get absolutely 0 option to download anything

You are on 2024, aren’t you?

There are plenty of tutorials how to download and install the content locally in your library.

Ya 2024 ps5

On the pc version you can download the planes and the handcrafted airports, aswell as the POIs. I am not sure if this is possible on a console, but anyway the majority of the sim is designed to be streamed. I am not sure if you understand the amount of data we are talking here. The entire sim (elevation data, surface textures and additional TIN data (cities and TIN areas)) are somewhere between 3.5 and 4 PETA bytes of data. In other words, thousands of terabytes of data. You simply can not store this on a consumer PC, let alone a gaming console.

you are right, that’s one of the most stupid blunder in MSFS, loading local data is slower then waiting for data streamed from network

PS5 doesnt support downloading anything right now

You can download on Xbox, so I don’t see any reason you couldn’t also do so on PS. Perhaps they just haven’t implemented it yet. We didn’t get it until SU3 ourselves

I did download quite a lot of the content for a reason I don’t understand even myself. If I would have more streamed instead, would my simulator start time be shorter? Any negative side effects?

How do I reverse back from downloaded to the streamed content?

Simply uninstall the downloaded content via the content manager inside the marketplace.
