@ Lindberg1927 I can confirm all of your observations, and it is good that you took the time to share it in this forum.
I got through the download with an even smaller download speed than yours, and I tried a VPN, however with no success.
Your suggestion of breaking the larger files into smaller packages was mentioned already in other posts, and I believe could help people suffering from the overall problem, until a real fix can be developed.
When i was downloading some addons from the in game content manager ( inside the game, in the menu) a lot of times certain airports would stop almost in the end, but when i restarted the sim, they were already downloaded. What I’m saying is, the information maybe delayed. Have that into account. Check your folders size.
Try different server. Somebody mentioned French and Germany works better. I was in Seattle server and works fine for a while and then stop working so I switched to French server and able to complete the download.
Luckily, I’m done with the last patch. But the next one will already come next week. If I don’t find a way to avoid the download, without going completely offline, I will try that.
All - They could solve this problem for all of us just putting the whole package on the servers so we can download it into a directory and then install from that file. Don’t understand with all the issues over this “feature” they don’t do this. Thankfully, I was finally able to DL the patch, and it fixed many things.
I have the impression that they are not even working on a solution to fix this download issue. Time will tell.
And they aren’t. Open a zendesk ticket, and tried all that they suggest, none worked. This download server is a piece of junk and crappy software
And yet 1,000,000 people have download it and are running it. So maybe it is just a few people having issues. And maybe it is proving difficult to fix.
Yeah, the main issue for most of us is that this isn’t something they appear to be working on any longer. If the only issue was that the problem was challenging, but they were communicating with us and said they were looking into it, there might be room for some hope, but it seems they aren’t even doing that. It used to be listed, but then one day marked it as solved because a triage solution worked for some people and that was that. I’m happy it’s worked for so many people, that’s great, simming is a great hobby and the game looks amazing. I just wish that Microsoft/Asobo would help the rest of us with this problem join in.
I am downloading 2GiB at time, then I close the game, reopens and download next 2GiB. Is the only workaround for me. I expected more from microsoft and asobo. Game is far for stable version, it’s a big alpha.
One solution which worked for me = limit download bandwidth for MSFS during patch updates

This is ridiculous, have to install a 3rd part software to limit download bandwidth, Asobo and Microsoft doesn’t have personal to fix this crappy server? Sorry, but I don’t wanna use VPN or bandwidth limiter, I want to download as I download all my games I have without problems.
And even with today patch this issue continue.
I used NetLimiter4 set at 3.5Mb. Last time I had to set it to 0.5Mb??
Worked for me as well. Fully agree with that this should not be necessary, but at least there is a workaround!
Can you post the files? Downloading at 3Mb/s is ridiculous.
Better than not downloading at all!
Still, having a 200Mb/s bandwidth and have to download a game at 3Mb/s is lame. They must fix their servers before releasing new updates.
It still doesn’t work with the update? Lmao this is dumb
I USED my VPN and it never failed ONCE! So if you have VPN, try using that process. Not sure why using VPN works, but I am finally done with this entirely frustrating process, all due to ONE file not completing, and starting over and over and over from the beginning each time.
I was also using my Ethernet hookup (not WIFI), so I was downloading at 321.3 Mbps versus 25.5 Mbps.
I feel for you. Very frustrating. Hope you are able to finally get the update downloaded and installed.
