I opened MSFS24 this morning and got a notification that I had some updates through marketplace. I had previously downloaded everything and went to select the updates to download.
There is no way to see which item the update is for and if you select all it will show there is a few hundred mb of data to download. Cool, click the download button, downloads the whole library over again, for about the fourth or fifth time. CTDs on approach after hours of flying, multiple features or entire aircraft that don’t work at all, the Vram issue, terrible in sim ATC, and then my new favorite.
How is this what we have at nearly ten months since release? I have “wasted” so much time just dealing with issues that I am losing my will to even start the sim.
I reported this as a bug but they moved it into the User Support hub as they said no one else had reported it. Maybe we can get some attention on it now.
I have the same. I already downloaded most of the files that I wanted , cca around 450GB of download.
Now each time I run the game a I see in my library taht an update is avalaible and I have to download again 45 Gigs of files !!! Really ? You want to tell me that the folder called Base content you updated all 30 GB of files ?
Somehow I think it is not downloading only the updated files but the whole content again that I already downloaded once.
So why it is set up like this in a stupid way. Why we have to download the whole content again and why we can not download only the updated files. Can you please fix this.
For me, it’s so bad that I’ve exceeded my monthly 750 GB
download limit and am now using narrowband during
peak hours, and this until the next billing period.
I just got this on a brand new install from the Xbox app on PC. Downloaded everything, installed everything, it showed two updates available so I clicked “Select All” and it showed the Download would be 9GB, so I clicked Download. Instead, it is re-downloading all of the base content/aircraft/scenery etc. From scratch.
Seeing similar behavior (on MSFS2024 SU3). I bought a module on sale and suddenly my entire library, around 950 modules, needed to re-download. There must be a bug which invalidates the locally stored content when buying new content from the store… This has occurred TWICE during the November sale. Both times after purchasing new products from the in-game store.
Not a huge problem since I have a 1 Gbit connection but surely it’s a waste of resources in terms of power and CDN traffic.
Just woke up from leaving my PC on overnight to do 226GB of updates after buying a “Better Runway Lights” module.
As i clicked install, it’s decided it wants to update all 716items/596GB of content.
Given how broken career mode still is, the ES-30 still having a day 1 bug for career mode and updates now requiring 2 days of downloads, I might have to take early retirement from being a cargo pilot and join the Military when steam winter sale hits DCS DLCs.
Hi there - does anyone of you guys still have this issue? For SU5 and now 5.1 it’s been the same for me. Drives me INSANE. This needs to be fixed! Please Asobo, do something about it.
Seems like there is a small update that gets downloaded every time I start up the sim. Not sure why but it only takes a few seconds and it moves on. I never had this issue before 5.1 final.
I thought I was missing something. I’m not sure what I did but my SIM keeps downloading 135GB of base content every time. Is there even a cancel button? This interface is so confusing. Why did they break up download and install as two events when everything in Microsoft is a single event (ex. download and install in windows update).
