ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Description of the issue: So I know we might not be allowed to alter the texture files of the addon scenery but with 8Gb of VRAM this game is unplayable and since the developers don’t really acknowledge the fact that with “recommended specs” the game is unplayable i had to take matters in own hands.
I’ve used this downscaler without any problems on 2020. And to my own surprise, I also used this without any problems on FS2024 ! This made the game run smoothly as my VRAM/RAM usage was way lower without those sky-high texture resolutions…
After the 1.2.7.0 update, my sceneries didn’t load in anymore and I did a lot of testing to find out that somehow, downscaling the textures make my sim hang on “free flight”. Now the game is unplayable again having to use the original 4k-8k textures that almost all scenery addons seem to apply…
I’ve also noticed my RAM going from 22Gb to 32Gb (max) after 1.2.7.0. It’s really difficult to understand how the developers keep on making the game worse with every single update. I don’t really care about career mode and stuff but come on, I have the RECOMMENDED specs, (and more: 14700K is ideal cpu), and I cannot RUN the sim smoothly. I’ve invested a lot of money already in the rig.
Could someone please at least explain my why this is happening after 1.2.7.0 ? And how I can downscale textures ? I also had to revert back to 8K FSLTL liveries after 1.2.7.0.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
No, hang is because of addon scenery

- Downscale the textures with this app : AI Texture Optimizer for MSFS and Prepar3D
- load up the sim and watch it hang and hang when clicking free flight “fly now”
