Dune update reset ALL of my controller bindings

Attempting a Fenix A320 flight after downloading the Dune update and noticed my throttles aren’t doing what they’re supposed to do. Opened the controller bindings and find everything reset to default. I haven’t checked the Alpha yet, but all 50 of my Bravo presets have been modified to include throttle/prop/mixture after this update. Is there any way to recover these?

Hey @CaptHawkeye50,

Just an FYI, this has been reported here and from what I know, has been escalated:

Cheers and see you in the sky! :airplane:

I saw a reply on the dune feedback post, when you do the Dune missions the game automatically switches to a custom control setup specifically for it, you can go back in the settings and revert to your normal saved settings

Nope. I never loaded any of the Dune missions and ALL of my custom profiles, over 60 of them, have been corrupted and will require remapping. Some of the players impacted by this didn’t even download the optional package.

Watching this thread. I think this is my worst nightmare.

It seems to me that the controls changed and everyone panicked, but all you have to do is go back to control settings and reload your previous settings profile. Admittedly before this, I didn’t realize you could have more than one.

Can’t even select Control Options - just loads and loads when entering the screen.
Amazing how a add-on I don’t even want manages to mess up…

All my controller settings ruined. Never had this problem before. Ridiculous. It took me ages to set them up. The way it sets up controllers is some of the worst design I’ve ever seen anyway. Why not just have controller settings bound to an aircraft instead of having to do the stupid scrolling through all the profiles? I nearly gave up on MSFS tonight. I am beyond annoyed.

Mine did that on first load, just reload the sim. I’ve reloaded quite a few times as I’m working on unrelated stuff, and it hasn’t happened since.

Didn’t work for me.

I’ve reloaded the sim 5 times today, and this issue persists. Count yourself lucky.

So glad this was a “mandatory update” too. Keep the games out of the sim!!

  1. Nothing to do with putting games in the sim.

Everything to do with a poor update process that can corrupt a user’s settings despite a user choosing not to install the ‘additional optional content’.

See previous World Updates that have caused similar problems.

  1. MSFS is ultimately a game. A very pretty and rather realistic one, but absolutely not a program approved for FAA Qualified Flight Simulation Training (or equivalent).

Just got the update and all my custom camera settings are corrupt. My #1 selection puts the camera behind the captain’s seat. The update also seems to have corrupted key bindings as my throttle stays at 0% unless my range is above 50% of the thrust then it goes to 100%.

No one was asking for this update and this update was delayed for months to fit the Dune 2 release so why was this not rigouroulsy beta tested?

It’s too bad there isn’t an save all your settings program for MSFS 2020.

Instead of that, the main Dune thread has a post from the mod team asking for others who have had this issue. Can you respond there (if you haven’t already)?

Why are you posting this same thing in different threads?

What happened today to my controller settings is equivalent to let a toddler play with scissors inside a networking Hub.

This will take some time to fix.
Don’t do it again. Never force a new controller layout. - Ask beforehand. It’s not “only” the controller settings inside MSFS. I have to redo also many touch portal profiles that use direct input. And AHK scripts and ect.
Not funny. Now I also have a new “keyboard short” profile that activates by itself and uses an absolute new key layout that messes all scripts up. I know it’s not a small task to draft a Key layout that works for all cases and is working for future Products, but there are better solutions out there and are in use, than we have now.
Don’t try to please everyone by assuming that each single attached controller will be responsible for all essential commands.

Please do it similar to DCS.
Let me choose between a Generic or blank profile from the beginning I load a new airplane, with the notice that a generic profile can have a high potential risk that axis settings are in conflict when using more than one controller (I use eight! And each one has its one purpose in a special scenario). Show this notice/warning to teach new users that they have to take care about their settings and look out for conflicts.
One Profile for each individual plane once I use it the first time. This profile gets activated when I load an Airframe AND gets unloaded when the plane isn’t active anymore. I’m able to tweak/change this profile by myself without having to fear that a next update will break it beyond recognition.
Changelogs will tell me which commands are changed and need my attention for each individual aircraft, so I’m not clueless when something important like the “activate VR” command isn’t working suddenly anymore. I want to be able to save, and tune/share my Profiles as I like.

Yada yada yada, you know it yourself, drop bad habits, keep only good ones.

Why not?

P.S.: The Ornithopter is a lot of fun once set up with a semi helicopter FFB/Force-trim setting! The missions will sure entertain me for hours to come.

Yikes this is scary. The profiles are actually stored in text files buried deep in the MSFS game files under some directory named like a UUID. Recently I made the mistake of trying to use cloud gaming while on holiday and it corrupted my controller profile so badly it crashed my PC install of MSFS every time I tried to use it on my return. After much digging around I was able to remove the files with fixed the crash, and then reconfigure the controller. I’m never touching cloud gaming again!

Anyway thanks for the headsup, I’ll be backing these files up before I start the sim next time. Fingers crossed.
