DX12 crashes since SU14?

I am not sure that this is deterministic, but it seems that I get a lot of random CTDs when using DX12. The problem is, that using DX12 gets me a smoother experience in VR, even without DLSS and FG. So I keep trying it again, then it crashes after a flight or two.
Does anybody else see this? It was stable in SU13.

Absolutely no issues on my end running DX12. ZERO CTDs and I fly a few hours each day. Not flying in VR though.

Likewise, I run DX12 exclusively, with no CTD

  • Latest nVidia Drivers (GRD)
  • HAGS ON
  • Game Mode ON
  • Windows 10

Flying VR in DX12, no CTDs here. Pimax crystal with OpenXR runtime.

Same. I only use DX12 and I don’t have CTDs.

I have same issue intermittently. All planes, Dax11 or DX12, uninstalled entirely reinstalled. Still have the same issue. New graphics drivers. Nothing seems to work or isolate it for me. Started day after last update in early December. Empty community folder. Nothing seems to help. If I fly enough flights it will freeze. Sometimes one or two flights sometimes five or six. Not intending to sound like whining, just sharing my experience in hope someone has found the golden goose to fix this.

I’ve been using DX12 for about 3 weeks. After a few hours MSFS just silently shuts down.

Has anyone considered how embarrassing it is that Microsoft cannot stop their graphics system crashing on their Windows operating system?

They control everything and can’t make it work reliably for over a year, with a net worth of almost $3 trillion.

Have you tried DX11 with Reflex+Boost enabled? If you can get yourself GPU limited, there is a very real fps increase to be had. DX12 was good up until around SU10 for myself. I can’t speak for the state of things currently, but can’t see what’s changed. Unless you are using FG, which you can’t in VR you should be in DX11. I have a reverb g2 btw

I’ve stated the same myself in different words, MS Flight SIM, MS WIndows, MS DX12, and it’s very far from right. In fact, isn’t it still DX12 BETA for the flight sim? Maybe they could get a few tips from Austin Meyer, and get Vulcan implemented. Nothing wrong with admitting defeat

There’s definitely some degradation with SU14 and DX12, but primarily for me it’s when Frame Generation is ON. Sadly, have to turn it off otherwise it’s a blurry/stuttery mess since SU14 launched.

Until they get a fix, give DX11 with reflex+boost a shot. You do have to get gpu limited to get that boost, that is tough with a 4090. But, increasing reflections, and shadows to out of the box levels should set ya straight. I know it sounds counter productive. It’s one of the tricks I used. Loading the GPU, and seeing an fps increase because of it.
