I’ve noticed a similar thing since the SU15 release. I see intermittent white flashes, as if I’m seeing the strobe light in the cockpit.
Switching from DX12 to DX11 fixed it. I am running an older nVidia driver (536.67) and also DLSS 3.7.10 (but it happens with any DLSS DLL version.)
I don’t use sync in the sim, but I do have it turned on in my monitor and in NvCP.
I’ll try turning it off completely and switching back to DX12 to see what happens, but I don’t think it’s a sync issue. I think it’s just DX12 in the sim, although I never saw this problem in SU14.
I gues its a VRR issue and depends on several factors. I get rid of it only if motion blur is not turned off but any other setting. I use low now because I do not like motion blur. I also tried to change the VRR range of my monitor using CRU but with mixed results.
I noticed it after SU15 also. Prior I didn’t notice it.
Exactly. I suspect much of the brightness flickering that is reported is due to dropping below the minimum supported frame rate. Especially if utilizing FG. Honestly VRR is not needed for MSFS. I also believe most do not understand how it works. Stable frames and Vsync works a treat.
For me, setting motion blur on anything else than off, in my case «low» because I do not like it, instantly fixes the VRR flickering. Makes no sense, but that is how it is…
I experienced this flickering on Xbox Series X a lot with LG C1 HDR(Dolby) VRR. The moment i switched to PC, Gsync - HDR - Vsync - VRR, it is vanished. And i was keep reading local forums and some other places about this issue, i couldn’t figure out how it is fixed for me after switching to PC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_ZMmMWi_yA
I am experiencing the same problem. The brightness keeps fluctuating at a constant rate in the most luminous areas (like the sky).
I have a 4K display with G-SYNC, using DX12 with frame-gen and HDR on.
I don’t always get it, but I can confirm it only happens when in full screen and with when the window is focused.
I will try to upload a video, but it’s hard to catch on camera.
I have found a solution that mitigates the intensity of the flickering:
- Open the WEATHER tool.
- Slide the time to night time and wait a couple of seconds.
- Toggle the REAL TIME back on
I’ve managed to get some levels of success, even though it doesn’t always work perfectly.
Glad I found this thread - I absolutely have this issue as well. 4080 Super, VRR/GSync monitor (240 Hz but set to 120 Hz for FS); able to consistently hold 60-70+ FPS with native frame gen but the flickering in DX12 is very distracting.
Same issue with me. I’ve sent feedback to Nvidia through the app
A temp fix for me is to use DDU and remove driver.
Install driver 537.58 fixes the flickering issue.
Windows will probably try to update your driver so you’ll have to pause windows updates as well.
Im also on DX12 with FG on (LG Monitor)
Capped at 120Hz and use Trackir5 it’s butter smooth
to those having this issue, what brand make model is your monitor
