Some people pay extra for this sort of experience.
They said in the release notes that visual glitches are still there and under investigation. So I don‘t expect them to be gone with today‘s update.
The issue seems to e worse, at least on my RTX2080ti with the latest drivers. Compared to before the recent update I now got shadowing issues on ground now from some unknown source:
Edit: I got a bad feeling about this - it’s a mdl based AIG aircraft with rotating mesh spikes coming out of the plane, MSFS native gltf aircraft don’t show this behavior:
Probably there are even more incompatibilities on mdl this time leading to overflows in VRAM when using DX12?
We need to consider full GPU memory commit usage as a whole. I doubt that’s the number dev mode is giving us (but maybe it is).
For example using Process Hacker: (just fired up the sim in menu)
Note however that this method only shows the memory usage of the flight simulator process. Other apps on the system are no-doubt using graphics memory as well.
DX12: Still artifacts and trees and still using up to 15 GB of VRAM on a 3080TI. Same choppiness while looking around.
DX11: No artifacts, but still going over the physical VRAM on occasion. More fluent frame rates while looking around than before, but still choppy here and there.
Tested with spawning on Zamperini Airfield south of LA and doing some patterns around the airport.
Overall I get way lower fps with SU10 than before, regardless of the version of DX…
Well, DX12 is a complete bust for me in this beta. In the previous, lowering my textures from ultra to high got rid of the glitches and artifacts. Now it doesn’t matter what graphics settings I use, they’re everywhere and actually far worse than they were in the last beta.
It’s an extra shame because in the last beta, they fixed the performance loss with popped out instruments from the VC in both DX11 and DX12. Now it’s regressed in DX11 where you get the same loss as before. DX12 now sees a performance loss as well, although nowhere near as severe. But it’s unusuable for me due to the glitches everywhere.
DX12 still not usable for me in the SU10 beta, even with the beta update today. DX12 exceeds what developer mode shows is its memory budget, so it appears to be paging to RAM to deal with it, resulting in a massive GPU frame time and low FPS.
Exact same settings, except render scale reduced from 100% to 95%, and scenario, but this time in DX11. FPS is much more respectible and GPU memory use is staying within budget.
Also of note is that DX11 performance has dropped by around 15% in this latest beta update compared to the original, which is why I reduced render scale in the DX11 run, but that’s for another thread.
The artifacts are good IFR training ![]()
If things were better in the last build, it looks like we made a big mistake reporting on graphical glitches and performance issues.
It would seem. I’m seeing the same performance I was seeing in SU9. All gains made in 1.27.9.0 were rolled back. DX11 performance went back to sucking, DX 12 performance is all over the place, plus the glitches and artifacts are far worse than they were in 1.27.9.0.
This is what I would call a giant regression. And we’re stuck with it for another 2 weeks at minimum. I’d even wager we won’t see another beta update until the week before launch, and that will be the “final” SU10 code like they’ve done in the last couple of betas.
Yeah! I am also getting lots of stutters and right now the performance seems worse than SU9! So much for all the hype about SU10.
I’m unfortunately also seeing a degradation in performance with higher CPU spiking
Performance in my case is way better when panning - on the last build there was noticeable stuttering which is now fluent somehow. Still the popins/glitches remain (which were not stated as being fixed) and low FPS when flying into complex airports between 500 and 0ft agl for me.
Currently I’m setting up something to track performance related vitals on my system in combination with the route taken at which time and report them over here in csv format. There may be useful information for the devs in these reports.
Might be worth someone creating a new thread to state that DX12 seems worse after today’s date. I am not seeing a “huge regression” like some, but definitely not seeing any improvement.
I re-read today’s update release notes; nothing was really updated except Simconnect, AIG/AI issue, and the G1000. DX12 really shows no changes/improvements with today’s update outside of whatever this means: * Fixed some graphical corruptions in DX12 with overlapping aprons. Other DX12 graphical issues still remain and are being investigated
I guess they’re still trying to figure out where the problem is. Hope they’ll find the culprit by the next update.
Yes, here’s to hoping. We’ve got a month to go. I just hope we have a few more significant beta updates to test.
Im just here to confirm a ~10-12 fps hit after todays update. On the ramp cold and dark in the pmdg 737 with same settings im usually 50-55fps. Today im 39-41 fps. Ugh. Bigtime regression.
This is dx12. TAA. 3080ti. 5900x. 32gb ram
After todays update I’m seeing pretty similar reduction in fps and some texture issues. I was at YSSY and the satellite image below the tarmac textures would show up in spots. As you moved around the tarmac texture would pop up over.
For now Dx12 is still largely unusable for me.
I5 9700k @5ghz, 32GB, RTX2060 6gb, Steam edition @1440p with DLSS Quality.
I’m on a 3700X, 32gb, RTX2060 6GB, Steam, @1440 144hz @ 50% screen hz getting great performance with DLSS and TAA under DX12.
It’s a big improvement in stability. Noticeable visual quality difference between DLSS and TAA. DLSS has better FPS but slightly lower quality, TAA has higher quality but lower FPS. Choose your poison.
I can push clouds up to Ultra if I need to as well. I’m fine with this visual quality. Was thinking about upgrading to an RTX3070ti I spied at a good price, but I think I’ll just burn my RTX2060 out and jump to an RTX4070 next year (or maybe a cheap RTX3080 if they tank enough).
