ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

dxgi_error_device_hung (0x887a0006) crash when in VR. Happens at random times, and progressively worse today, flights last no more than a few seconds. Rolled back NVIDIA driver, and still occuring.

Yes, getting crashes in both situations.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Turned off mods, Reshade, and cleared community folder
  2. Rolled back NVIDIA Driver
  3. Turned down settings, ran fine on LOD 250, and higher settings.

I forgot about the Fenix app running in the background. Removed the Fenix A320, and so far so good. Cant confirm, but completed a 30 minute Low Level and Instrument Approach Helicopter-high density flight changing weather conditions in-flight; no issues in TAA and DLSS.

Cancel that. Same error when backing out flight to change aircraft. Locked up and crashed.

Would recommend downloading and using HWInfo64.

Once you’ve started a session and have HWInfo64 open, click on the clock in the bottom right to reset min/average/max timers.

If you analyze the data in HWInfo you’ll be able to see what MSFS is doing to your system. It may be maxing out memory, CPU, or GPU, which could be different causes.

I’ve gotten this error a bunch and increasing the pagefile size in Windows helped a bunch with it. Instructions can be found here:

Alternatively, it could also be that this beta is super buggy. It’s sad we have to deep dive into all these things to get a PC game to run correctly.

Are you using MSI Afterburner by any chance? This used to happen in previous versions with my RTX 4070 when I had it undervolted using MSI Afterburner.

No, I’m not using Afterburner.

I’ll definitely run the HWinfo and take a look. Increased the VM to 63000 mb initial and 130000 mb max. Sessions lasting a little longer, but crashing. I’ve been one of the few that’s had a great experience since launch, so only fair to earn my dues. :grin:

Definitely looks like a bug in VR SU2. I’ll see if I can find a solution to share. Thanks for the info.

I seem to have limited the crashes to (VR mode) leaving an active flight, and selecting the aircraft icon for a new aircraft selection. Get the error and lock up.

I’ve done a lot of testing today, and it seems to be mostly when exiting a flight, and the World screen appears. VRAM spikes and it fails. VR only. No crashes outside of VR.

Holding around 11-12.55 VRAM usage in flight.

Flew a total of four flight hours, two in desktop mode and two in VR with only one CTD at the end. Much better than yesterday. :+1:

• Every flight, this error happens around 40 minutes after start. I am not beta.

I think graphic card is ok but when it happens, CPU(AMD 7800x3d gets really hot over 84 c. if I monitor with HWINfo64. I never had seen such a hot temperature since CPU installed. Cooling is water cooled and very good.

Are you suggesting that increasing virtual memory helped reduce CTD even in VR? I have the same issue as the one you mentioned above.

Turning off NV filters seemingly solved it for me (SU1+SU2). 572.83 (5090).

Just got the classic S_OK while sitting in the main menu. I think it’s related to DXGI_HUNG - probably just isn’t displaying the correct error code.

Nvidia filters (set custom colors, vibrance, bloom etc).

I ditched NV filters a few months ago. More hassle than pleasure in my experience.
