Enter any tail number in game UI - registration is either not displaying, is clipped off, (interior and exterior) or sim CTD with some 2020 adddons.
Examples occuring in all aircraft but four here, Carenado (native!) C182Q, CJ4, , COWS DA40 2024, Black Square TBM 850 (2020 addon)
Please note for the COWS DA40 - the exterior is working as intended because the model disables the dynamic reg from showing over the “hand painted” tail number. But the interior placard is still cutoff (even though normally I’d change it to match the exterior tail number).

• I’ve found from a few other posts that the system is starting to work WITHOUT addons. But that doesn’t help much because hardly anyone is flying a vanilla PC install. We need to find out what addons aren’t playing well.

I mainly fly the Bell 407 in the two tone blue livery. The sim always loads the copper colored one, yet when I click on blue it doesn’t change. I have to click 3 or 4 aircraft further down to get it to change, then cycle back to blue with my custom reg. It remains stable throughout that session. When I reboot I have to repeat the process, so reg number and livery are not retained.

At least when I start on the ramp - ramp/apron starts with addons that support dynamic registration WERE working in 1.4.9.0
Now in .10 the sides were DR is possible will flicker in black while in the hangar and either show black or white when in the sim IF loading on the ramp/apron.
Loading In the air does work in .10! (added default PC24 for reference - working better than 1.4.9.0 for air starts)
I assume ramp starts vs air stars having something to do with the .FLT files? Perhaps look there

No, but I also do not have those addons.

If these are issues specific to those mods and third-party aircraft (COWS DA40, Black Square TBM 850, Carenado C182Q), then they should be reported to those developers. They can then investigate and log a bug report on devsupport.
I did try to repro with the default TBM 930, DA40, and CJ4 using the OP’s choice of “N313CP” as a registration, and could not get a reproduction of the issue in 1.4.12.0.

It wasn’t solely third party. The first su2 beta it was broken for default which is why I made the post.
That being said, it was working in SU1 with 3rd party aircraft, but in su2 Asobo disallowed special characters in the aircraft.cfg, thus needing a new technique.
For all the promises of backwards compatibility Asobo should just come out and say No, 2020 addons are not backwards compatible. I’d be fine with that.
