EDDK Loss of FPS / Massive Stutters

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

Developer Mode in order to check the FPS, otherwise no changes. Checked the situation in Standard Mode as well, same problems

Yes, everything has been removed

Brief description of the issue:

On arrival to 32R resp. after departure from 32R, I’ve a massive loss of FPS and massive stutters. Further, the trees after the runway are of very low quality. I’ve installed all City Updates, but in order to rule out any problems with the City Updates, I’ve deinstalled them on the first screens, but no changes to the problems.
Around one month ago, I’ve received a new computer and, thus, installed MSFS completely new. All addons have been removed, so it’s a blank MSFS

Hi Daniel, you have a terrific system. It looks like this is a symtom of flying of a poorly optimised area. Low and slow over a capopy of trees has given me issues in the past, probably as this is photogrammetry trees it is even less optimised.

I have a 13900K and RTX 4090 so a similar performance system and I still have issues in this area. It would be interesting to know if you have everything maxed out. I don’t have that, most of my settings are Ultra but I have some pegged back for highly detailed areas and anomelies like above.

This is definately not the norm and performance in the sim is usually steller.

There is a massive drop in fps in EDDK since CU4. Almost unflyable now with fps<10. Even before with Aerosoft EDDK installed fps were between 20 and 30. Other airports eg EDDW with photogrametry around are at least stable with 30 fps. Think of deinstalling CU4.

Flying from / to EDDK after City Update IV is a nightmare.
In VR FPS are below 14 sometimes 7 , before CU IV it was 36-37 !!!

I’m experiencing really weird performance here, oscillating from 60 to 15 fps

every time i startup is different (raffic injected or not isn’t making any difference)

Looking around using trackIR on the ground induces stutters. Even without ai traffic

Hi there! I do have massive stuttering around EDDK, too. It is my home airport and I approach it frequently. Can not recall to have those problems before. They came up in the past months. Had hoped to see them fixed with recent updates. But nope, they remain persistent. Area becomes nearly unplayable for me.

yes can confirm this aswell; even 10/15 miles out at fl100 or so I’ve experienced noticeable fps loss (like a cut in half)

STRANGE: Even AFTER I removed City Update IV, I just had some stuttering in the area around Cologne following the NVO24B approach and then massive stuttering during final on EDDK/24. Only at 50-70 feet above ground it went back to somewhat normal on the generic airport scenery.

It seems that the stuttering survives removal of the City Update? Is there any way to get rid of it again?

Did you clear rolling cache?

Same issue here. Have a 4080/12700k and even with frame gen on, this airport is sub 15fps and stutters like no other when panning around. This whole area around cologne is just abhorrent for performance, even at altitude. There is definately something wrong with the scenery in this area and can confirm that an empty community folder/city update uninstalled and rolling cache cleared does not yield a solution. Maybe something wrong with the base mesh here?

Always good to hear I am not the only one. Awefull performance as well. GPU Memory is over utilized for me here. Does not happen on FlyTampa EHAM, which is a much bigger airport.

Yes, tried it just today and it worked: No more stuttering with the default scenery after clearing the rolling cache. Thanks for the hint!

It’s a real pity that this nice and free scenery is not usable at all.

is anyone really able to use this airport? I’m genuinly curios about this because on my side it completely destroy my performance, way more than any other addon

I just flew into EDDK (Asobo version) 32R and also experienced massive stutters, especially when panning the camera. The stuttering IMO is worse here than even the biggest airports like LAX, EGLL, and JFK… I have a beast of a system too: 7800X3D, 4090, 64gb ram CL30 6000, SN850X 4TB SSD, Gigabit internet speeds and even this area brought my system to a crawl… Rolling cache off, all settings at ultra, DLSS + Frame Generation on… The stuttering really started as I was entering final approach into 32R

I am having the same issue, Aerosoft or Microsoft Inibuilds. On Final for 14L i had 1FPS it was absolutly abysmal.
