Edge Browser causing issues?

Does this happen with anyone else or just my setup?

I have 2 monitors. Occasionally I have opened the Edge browser on my main monitor when surfing then closed it.
When I play MSFS and then go to the browser to check something and it then opens over the top of MSFS, the sim freezes and I have to use Task Manager to end it.

Not a big issue- I just have to remember to open and close Edge on my 2nd monitor before using MSFS

Just weird and curious if it affects anyone else!

Mine just straight up shuts down and reboots the PC if I use both MSFS and Edge at the same time. It doesn’t “always” happen, but it happened to me quite often.

Now, I use a separate laptop that I no longer use for opening charts, etc using Edge. So that my PC is fully dedicated to running the sim.

Yes, same here: If Edge is running in the background, the sim will crash, I already sent a feedback with crash dumps on Zendesk a while ago.
It was working fine at first but I can’t remember which Sim Update brought this issue.

Workaround: Use Firefox if you want to browse while the sim is running.

My setup: Intel Core i5-9400 / nvidia RTX 2060 / 32 GB RAM

Aah thanks chaps. At least it is known. Fortunately I can use Edge just so long as its not on the same monitor as MSFS.
I will try Chrome and see if I get the same issue.

no issues with Chrome and MS for me.

I don’t have 2 monitors but using Edge causes no issues here. Must be one of the many unique and individual hiccups of a PC.

There’s your problem.

Firefox or even Chrome, never open Edge.

I have Edge (chromium) open all the time while using msfs and it has never been an issue. But I do not have two screens, just a single monitor

Use VPN then only open TOR browser.

If I were to do anything less than white hat internet browsing … absolutely.

or is it more than?

Never a problem with Edge here, plus I have Navigraph, Spad, fan controllers, etc all open.

Guess it’s just one of those things. I have Edge running on 2nd monitor with LNM, Navigraph, spad, Bushtalk radio. All good as long as it stays on the 2nd monitor.

I tested dragging Edge onto main monitor and Boom. MSFS froze.

Spooky

I have suddenly started experiencing the same thing having been using Edge without a hitch since November. Is anyone investigating this?

No problems with Edge whatsoever. Windows 11, 6 screen setup. I’m using Edge all the time while the sim is running in the background, on about all of my screens. Never had any problems.

However, my sim had been crashing or freezing occasionally for a few days. Dialed back my CPU overclocking one notch, and it’s stable again. Something to think about when having random crashes.

It’s a long shot but I wonder if it’s because of the “Use hardware acceleration when available” option in Edge? At least it seems logical that if MSFS was utilizing the video card and then Edge tried to use it also it would cause a conflict?
