An extensive search turns up nothing regarding my quest to find the main config file. I want to make a few adjustments that are not available in the sim
I want to enter a specific refresh rate
I want to enter a specific aspect ratio
I want to adjust the highway/road traffic speed of vehicles
Can anyone tell me where to find it/them? …and also if these files are written in a different format, please explain how to access them. I have also noticed that some files are inaccessible with restricted permissions.
#2 - come out of full screen and drag the window edges. Full screen will always follow your monitors aspect ratio. You can still lower the resolution, but the numbers will always follow the same ratio.
This config file (config.opt) will allow you to change many settings.
The only setting in there somewhat related to what the OP is asking would be screen resolution. And you just set the physical resolution, not the aspect ratio as he was looking for.
Although in reality, that should be pretty much the same thing. If one wants to run at a different aspect ratio than their monitor, no config file is needed. Just set MSFS to run in windowed mode from within the sim and set whatever resolution you want it to run at.
Things like refresh rate is controlled by the GPU software, not the game itself.
According to this aspect ratio calculator, a 21:9 monitor is actually 3360 X 1440. I am trying to find a work-around to the “stretch” ed, scenery when using multiple monitors. I’m, as we speak" testing the sim but running short on time to see if I can reduce the stretching at the outer edges of the screen. If anyone else is using a wide screen (35" in this case) has noticed this, and even more so with two monitors.
So I now have a true aspect ratio (resolution of 3360X1440) and of course I have the two black bars on either side, oh maybe about a 1/2". Now I have to figure out if I can slide usable part of the screen to the right and vice/versa on the other one. Mess with it tomorrow.
As to the refresh rate, my monitor is capable of 50hz refresh and I wanted to change the in game .cfg file from the 60 to 50. However…it may not be necessary as my fps counter locks it at 50 anyway, so the .cfg edit my be moot.
Yeah, there’s absolutely nothing you can do about that. That’s caused by the camera lens effect baked right into the sim. No amount of resolution or aspect ratio tweaking is going to fix that. A FOV setting would help. The camera zoom setting is analogous to that, but it doesn’t remove the lensing effect.
At this time, the sim DOES NOT support multiple monitor usage. You may be able to stretch your view across multiple monitors using nVidia Surround, but it’s not officially supported and as a result doesn’t work right.
At best, you may be able to change your resolution in the Config.opt file. That combined with camera correction may help somewhat, but you won’t get rid of that stretching.
