The floating EFB has been reformatted in 1.7.10 but is still far too large
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every time a separate ERB panel is invoked.
REPRODUCTION STEPS
Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:
Enter any flight/plane.
Invoke the EFB panel.
The panel appears (in the new “landscape” format), but is still far too large, compared for example with its moderate size in those planes with built-in EFB.
YOUR SETTINGS
If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

I’ll be honest in say I’ve not tested in VR myself, but on a 2D screen you’re able to change the size of the EFB from within the Settings page of the EFB. Are you able to select this in VR to see if you can alter the size?
There is a signifcant difference in size. This does look similar to 2D (in both cases representing an extra-large tablet), but VR of course behaves differently in terms of immersion. The basic problem is that in VR to maintain 3D realism the EFB is actually a physical object. Using it, we need to place it as you would place an actual EFB in a real cockpit. As we scan around the cockpit, the EFB moves with the cockpit, not with the screen (as with the EFB pop-out in 2D). If it is placed such that it covers some of the instruments/controls/views, we cannot “see around” the EFB simply by rotating the camera or zooming in (as in 2D). The large size makes it hard to find a suitable location we can site it where it is easy to view but not obstructing anything.
One solution which has been suggested is simply to move the EFB further away from the viewpoint. This is easy to do, and certainly works, but would destroy the realism - I personally refuse to fly a plane with my EFB flying like a UFO outside the window.
That does work indeed, but the differences in size between large and small are little and the most annoying point: the fonts and graphics are rendered very poorly and also the layout of the elements is not responsive to the size of the tablet and therefore the EFB is not useable in VR in this state.
Unfortunately, all the windows are problematic in MSFS2024. For example, the communications panel displays text that is far too large, and it’s impossible to reduce its size.
This is definitely a regression compared to MSFS2020.
We need to be able to resize it. Not having preset sizes. Please allow us to resize it so we can put it where makes sense in the cockpit without getting in the way like it’s now.
I posted this topic to point out that Asobo missed the opportunity of making the EFB a more reasonable size.
They put effort into changing the shape in 1.7.10 (as you point out), but ignored the obvious, previously-reported problem of the unrealistic size, which they could have fixed at the same time with very litlle effort. Rather like a garage fixing the petrol cap on a car while ignoring a reported leak in the tank.
I am not using VR so for sure I don’t know that much about what you are experiencing but you mentioned they changed the shape. Are the 2 fixes in the Release Notes mentioned above don’t allow to resize with a correct ratio ? (so attending the issue of the EFB being too large).
The shape is ok, if you’re ok with the size. The problem is that, although, the shape is right vertically or horizontally, it’ still too big even on the S size. Preset sizes won’t make it useful in VR. We really need to resize it to our liking so we can put it on our instruments or where our legs are in the cockpit, like we do with other panels.
I not absolutely certain what is meant by this reference to “Resize Icon”, but I don’t think it refers to the EFB. My best guess is that it actually refers to the “Reset” button on the World Map page, which overlapped the “Start Flight” button in VR and has now been fixed in 1.7.10.
