EFB Still Broken

EFB still does not load my SimBrief PLN 9 times out of 10, and if I dare try to load from web it still gets stuck “loading” eternally. The game has been out how long and a part of it that is more or less required to interface with stupidly enough, is still not 100% working 100% of the time.

Edit 1: I also tried entering the flight plan manually, tedious as that is, but it’s not finding any of the waypoints…and yes…I checked and double checked I spelled the waypoints correctly.

Edit 2: I have also tried entering the route string. It’s “Parsing Route” eternally

I’ve never once had this issue - are you in career mode or freeflight? Can you share some links to the plans you’ve made on the web planner that never load?

Also a bit more detail - are you using the SimBrief EFB app and the Import Flight Plan function? What specific step is where it fails?

I just installed the SimBrief thing. I have not tried it yet. It is also not showing up in the More Apps section like it is supposed to.

Can you please share links to some of the flight plans you’re trying to load?

They are from Simbrief. I do not know how to do that and if I did I would prefer not having my simbrief account info posted on the internet.

No need for that - let me see if I understand this, you are:

  • Generating a flight plan on SimBrief
  • Copying the route text from SimBrief
  • Pasting it into a new flight plan on planner.flightsimulator.com
  • Saving the flight plan on planner.flightsimulator.com
  • Attempting to load said flight plan in the default Flight Planner app on the default in-sim EFB?
  1. Creating a Flight Plan on SimBrief
  2. Downloading the MSFS 2024 pln file
  3. Launcing Game
  4. Starting cold and dark
  5. open EFB
  6. Import PLN File …failed 6B: Load from web …stuck loading, 6C: Entering Route String …stuck parsing
  7. have to completely close the game to stop the eternal loading or parsing
  8. launch game
  9. 4 and 5 again
  10. 6 again

Thanks! I’ll see if I can reproduce that. Would you mind pasting the route text for an example route that isn’t working?

Route String per SimBrief: DCT EEGOR DCT MAD DCT CARLD V188 GON DCT
It’s been parsing route for 15 minutes.

What are the origin and destination airports?

Thank you - I’ll give this a go later this evening.

I know this is maybe not the response you were hoping for, but mine imported instantly and without any issue following the exact steps you provided above (but without 6B and beyond).

My only guess is that you’re exporting from SimBrief in the wrong format as there are many different MSFS versions - I even caught myself about to click on MSFS 2004 as I was scrolling too quickly, and I can imagine that trying to import a .PLN file formatted for any other version other than MSFS 2024 may cause issues.

To try and test that out I’m attaching the exact .PLN file I generated from SimBrief and successfully loaded into the EFB within the sim.

KJFKKPVD_M24_26Sep26.pln (2.1 KB)

That is the FS2024 yes? That is the one I used.

Yep - does the PLN file above have issues loading into your sim?

It did not load into the EFB. I did a flight earlier as well to test, and it added the Origin and Departure to the EFB but it didnt add the waypoints. It’s a game issue. Maybe 2024 does not like SimBrief PLN. Maybe MSFS devs dont want us to use external tools.

I do not have this issue on MSFS 2020. That is because there is no EFB to have to work through.

If it were a game issue it wouldn’t work on my end either, but it works fine for me and others who I know import SimBrief PLN files. Problem is something local on your end, but not sure what.

I’d try a reinstall of the sim, I guess - but again, not a sim problem.

I already uninstalled MSFS 2024, deleted any remnants, then reinstalled it. PLN is still not loading in the EFB.

Trying to enter the route manually in the EFB or the FMS is yielding me the waypoint not being found at all in the EFB, and on the FMS it says “searching” indefinately.

Have you perhaps overwritten default AIRAC cycle data with old Navigraph navdata? Literally the exact same PLN file works fine on my end, as shown above.

I do not know how to do that so no.

I do not screw around with stuff I don’t understand on SimBrief. I put in the Origin, Destination, use my Custom Airframe, add an altitude (or leave it auto) add passenger amount, freight amount, and that’s it. Generate.
