EFB Web Flight Plan Import stuck on loading, then flight planning and waypoints break

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

I am using Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 via GeForce Now.

I repeatedly run into an issue where flight planning stops working completely during a session. When I open the EFB and select “Load from Web” to load a flight plan created on https://planner.flightsimulator.com/, the saved plans are displayed correctly. However, when I click “Load”, the EFB stays stuck on “Loading” / “Wird geladen” indefinitely and the flight plan is never loaded.

After this happens, flight planning appears to be broken for the entire simulator session. I can no longer create a flight plan manually in the EFB, and I also cannot create a proper flight plan directly in Garmin avionics such as the G1000 or G3000. Many waypoints that are normally available in the simulator are missing or cannot be found.

This is not limited to one specific aircraft. It appears to affect the internal flight planner / navigation data state of the whole session after the EFB web import gets stuck.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you?

Intermittently, but repeatedly. It has happened multiple times across different sessions. Once the issue occurs in a session, it usually persists until the simulator / GeForce Now session is fully restarted.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Start Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 via GeForce Now.
  2. Create and save a flight plan on https://planner.flightsimulator.com/.
  3. Start or load into the simulator and open the EFB.
  4. Select the option to load a flight plan from the web.
  5. The saved web flight plans are shown correctly.
  6. Click “Load” on one of the listed flight plans.
  7. The EFB remains stuck on “Loading” / “Wird geladen” and the flight plan is not loaded.
  8. After this, try to create a flight plan manually in the EFB.
  9. Then try to create a flight plan directly in the G1000 or G3000.
  10. Observe that manual flight planning no longer works properly and many normally available waypoints are missing.

What peripherals are you using:

Standard GeForce Now setup. Keyboard, mouse and controller / joystick depending on the session. No local MSFS add-ons or Community Folder access because the simulator is running through GeForce Now.

Hi, I’ll try later and see if it happens to me. It was fine on SU4 - I used it to import plans from Aussie Group Flights as well as my own exported from LNM.

It’s certainly not happy. First time I tried it took quite a while but I did eventually get a list of plans. Second time it just hung, went back to the main menu, changed location and aircraft, opened EFB and it was still trying to load. I would’ve suspected the GFN network but using the EFB satellite maps in various places and rapidly zooming in all worked fine…

Previously, this issue could usually be resolved by restarting the simulator / GeForce Now session, although sometimes it required several restarts before flight planning worked again.

However, for the last two days the issue has become permanent for me. Even after countless full restarts of the simulator and GeForce Now sessions, the problem no longer resolves itself.

So this has changed from an intermittent session issue into a persistent issue that currently makes normal flight planning unusable for me.

just tried to load in a flightplan i had saved on my pc. Hangs when clicking on ‘load from this PC’

This is a pretty major bug for me as every flight i do is from a flightplan generated from another app

EFB ‘load plan from pc’ simply locks-up on the load from this pc. Ubfortunately no other navigation (e.g. back to main menu) works after this and the only solution is to kill the process.

For me this started with SU5.

A entire week since SU5 this is all I get unbelievably frustrating.

I’m still having the same problem. Unfortunately, it’s also completely unpredictable. One day the flight plan works, the next day the exact same flight plan doesn’t work anymore and the EFB gets stuck.

I also noticed that, for example, some VOR/DMEs are completely missing in the simulator, even though they’re used by the Web Flight Planner, like the “HMM” (HAMM) VOR in Germany. It’s not selectable in any aircraft or in the EFB either. Navigation data is “APR16MAY14/26.”

It’s just frustrating because you never know, “Can I actually play today or not?”

The issue seems to happen mainly on flights in Europe and Germany. I’ve been flying in the US for several days without any problems. But as soon as I switch back to Germany, the problem immediately comes back.
