Hello everyone,
Do someone know why there is still nothing feature to activate low energy consumption for long hauls? I’m missing this feature from P3D, where you can disable the outside view to reduce computer power for long hauls or when you’re out of cockpit. This feature was called as “Virtual Cockpit Only” in P3D.
Actually I don’t fly longhaul anymore because it’s running on full power and wouldn’t wanna let my computer running at this for long time.
Hopefully there will be a feature where I can disable the outside view of cockpit to reduce my computer power consumption.
Best regards

I’ve taken energy savings into my own hands. During cruise, I use MSI afterburner to limit GPU power to 50% and I use PBO2 Tuner to limit my CPU to 50C temp. This at least halves system power consumption, drops CPU/GPU/System fans to low speed and still gives me 25-30 FPS, which is more than enough for monitoring the cruise phase of flight.

That is an idea! You never had a CTD with this method? That’s really great method but it would be more nicely and easier if they add a feature
Will definely test your method
I haven’t had CTDs with this method. If anything it should lessen the chance of a hardware induced CTD as your system is not being maximally loaded, so it should be way back from the edge of hardware stability.
Yes it would be better if an equivalent feature would be added to MSFS so you could toggle it internally. However, I learnt long ago not to hold my breath waiting for fixes, let alone obvious improvements, to MSFS, so if I can find another way to achieve the desired outcome now I just do it.

I’m surprised this hasn’t been suggested much as it’s an absolute key feature especially considering how high energy prices are in some countries now. The ability to minimise and use almost no resources in P3D is the sole reason why it’s the only sim I use for long hauls. Who wants to run their PC maxed out for 12+ hours straight whilst they sleep/work? Not me, that’s for sure.

We can help the
with energy saving!
since su 15 my pc also run always on full power, not good
I just increase the simrate to save power. I cant enjoy an 11 hour flight to Narita when im sleeping anyway.

When not at your PC if you minimize the sim it should dramatically reduce power consumption, at least it did in the past. Alternatively switch to windowed mode and drag the corners to a much reduced size. It’s been a while since I tested this so let us know if it still works.
