It shouldn’t yank you out of the cockpit. If it does, you probably have this setting enabled:
Assistance Options > User Experience > End Flight When Aircraft Shuts Down
Turn that off if you want to remain in the cockpit. However, you will still experience the very annoying sudden point-of-view shift bug, that this thread references.
