Enhanced Global Vegetation - Burning Blue Design

[EDIT: irrelevant theory, wasn’t the case]

I can’t really say what the problem was. But today, the trees around LOWI are there even with EGV enabled. And they look really good.

EGV

Bijan

Based on my tests so far, I’d say that Bijan’s trees have slightly more natural colours (you can’t tell from the Innsbruck photos). I’ll take some more comparison photos at the weekend.

Yeah I am not seeing grass either. It looks like XP12 with ortho, only much worse because in XP the tree coverage is accurate. This mod is a swing and a miss for me at the moment, at least until an update corrects these issues.

That’s not what I see here. This is Bella Coola.

In your screenshots I am clearly seeing missing trees. For example, at the bottom of the first screenshot there are rows of 2D trees baked into the satellite imagery, yet no 3D trees on top. That’s the main issue I’m seeing with this mod.

I picked up EGV yesterday, so my observations are tentative. I flew around the Tucson area(with WU 22), and the lower deserts were almost devoid of any vegetation; bushes and saguaros are common, worse than the default MSFS vegetation. Mountain tree coverage was way overdone, with too many and too big trees. I then moved to Hawaii, and EGV seemed to be as good as or better than Bijan. I guess this is to be expected with the initial release.

I was flying from 37id Hungry Ridge. Other areas have conifers.

I agree, this is also my main issue with the mod. HOWEVER, sometimes I’m not sure whether they should’ve been bushes. Like in that screenshot I’m really not sure.

As it is not really apparent from the product description (at least to me), does the addon place correctly coniferous, broadleaf and mixed forests?

Sth like this where coniferous and broadleaf parts of the forest are clearly distinguisheable.

Thanks.

Bought it and the reply is: No.

Check out Burning Blue’s launch trailer:

Certainly in my mind, this isn’t a mod that claims to 100% accurately place vegetation across the globe, exactly mirroring real-life, but rather makes vegetation more believable and a little less random. The trailer looks impressive… but then again, I wouldn’t have a clue what those areas of the world look like without EGV!

Yes agree it’s a decent trailer but I am surprised they didn’t opt for before/after style comparisons.

Might there be an underlying reason for that? I wouldn’t have though so — BBD are not a dev known to deceive — but for a payware product claiming to alter the world for the better, it’s an odd omission.

I belong to the group of the fortunate ones for who this addon removes grass from airfields.

Not happy with my purchase to be honest

Did you install the new update? I think that is fixed now.

That issue is supposedly fixed. Might be worth giving it a go:

Enhanced Global Vegetation has been updated to version 1.5.5

We have had huge amounts of feedback, from testers and users. On the back of some observations around realism we have made the following changes:
Vegetation & realism:

Fixed missing grass at airports worldwide. Our rules were replacing the default airfield grass without re-supplying it.
Reduced tree heights in the Alps. Mature conifers were spawning around 10% too tall, and tall trees no longer appear near the treeline
Fixed wrong pine species across the tropics. Mediterranean umbrella and maritime pines and Rocky Mountain lodgepole had been used as filler in the Bahamas, Caribbean, Central America, Southeast Asia, Himalayan foothills, Bermuda and southern Brazil, now replaced with the correct subtropical pine. Same fix for the Mexican Sierra Madre and Ukrainian steppe
Fixed Florida and Mid-Atlantic pine flatwoods, which were rendering as sagebrush prairie with no pines. Now slash pine and live oak savanna
Fixed the Texas Hill Country, which was rendering as bare prairie the same as the rest of Texas. Now live oak, juniper and mesquite woodland
Fixed Morocco’s argan belt, which rendered as dense Mediterranean forest. Now open acacia, wild olive and date palm
Increased tree density in the Iowa and Upper Mississippi bluff country by around 25%
Fixed the Caspian Hyrcanian and Colchic forests, previously dry Mediterranean woodland, plus added a conifer band to the Caucasus and Black Forest
Reduced rare giant redwoods in Kent, France and the UK to their intended rarity
Fixed fan palms in Mediterranean and tropical towns, previously backwards with altitude
Added a laurel forest belt to Madeira and the Canary Islands

It will also be on ORBX shortly and as always feedback in encouraged.

I think this product has great potential but is in a class of add-on that is crying out for a free trial version. Maybe if it makes its way to the marketplace that could be done without Burning Blue Design having to build a special trial version.

As with any free trial, I would hope that if the dev team are confident in their own product then it should be a positive for them and consumers.

OK, after the update from Orbx store, the grass is there again.

Thank you!

Recently picked EGV and love it so far!! I did notice a weird issue:

I spawned in at Palm Springs CA (KPSP - Inibuilds).

While the immediate area around the airport property looks fine (Inibuilds) I flew the drone out around the city a bit. It appeared the generic default bright green trees were gone and replaced with palm trees (as seen in real life)

However- the palm trees were like a blocky tall cylinder instead of an actual palm tree (photo attached). I know it won’t look perfect but something tells me I got it wrong maybe? I posted on technical support on the discord for the product but haven’t heard back. Figured I’d drop in here incase someone else had this experience else where.
