Hello,
I had a littlebit trouble with my computer and did some actions to activate rBAR (SAM) with my new AMD 6700xt. I used for this also system recovery. But this didnt help and so I undo this recovery process. I updated also a lot of drivers Solution for rBAR was again a new BIOS.
Since all this the Flight Simulator will not start and it occurs again and again the Error Code 0x803f8001.
Between the current date and the recovery date point of Windows Flight Simulator installs a little update. (this 700KB update for the latest version)
The new 6700XT was not the reason. Because the Flight simulator already run with it, but without rBAR.
So i reset the MS Store, do this stuff with the Powershell to reactivte the apps. I had uninstalled the Flight Simulator. But now I’m not able to install it again. The error code came up with installing the first package.
What now?
In a other thread did a user a complete Win 10 reinstall. Its clear this is the solution, but a lot of work.
I think the windows recovery destroys something for the Flight simulator due to the Flight Simulator update during this time.
But it must be possible to set all to start to have a clear Flight Simulator installation?
But how?
If you are able to open MS Store, open MS Store > Click on your profile picture on top right and sign-out. Then sign-in again.
it’s a longshot but worth a try.
there are a lot of posts about not being able to reinstall msfs.
it’s not you or your system , it’s the store…
I already tried this. This would be to easy as a Solution.
yes, shame, what i wonder is , what is different with those people from the many more
thousands that have no issues???
thats what i am curious about, has windows become so incompatible in itself?
neh microsoft pushed a new ms store app thats buggy when you uninstall msfs en then try to re install.
@Masteraddi3 Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
do mind 2. If you are running Windows 10, Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, first run the inbox Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool prior to running the System File Checker.
The brute force way to fix it is Format C and do a fresh install of windows.
Run xbox app and sign out // Run ms store app and sign out.
Restart PC.
Run ms store app and sign in // Run xbox app and sing in.
Run msfs via xbox app.
I follow your instructions, but no success. Still the same error code.
In BIOS settings turn off SAM and save changes.
This makes no difference. SAM on or off,the same error.
I think the ms store or the flight simulator files are corrupted somewhere.
The last Windows recory was 3 days old. In this time came a FS update and i think this is gone.
I’ve had this error before, and contacted zendesk - not helpful at all, they will send you links to some forum posts where most people are struggling too - and they you to contact Microsoft instead. It looks like a bug introduced to MS Store in one of the recent updates.
I managed to install it but honestly I don’t even know how - I tried many things on forums and I guess a combination of them worked. Some included reseting Xbox app, MS Store , running Powershell scripts, regedit stuff… basically, a pain! Good luck…
Thanks, so i do now the third method with the “Windows old” folder. So i have still access to the old data.
And oh wonder, the Flight simulator installer is now running with the clean install.
I think the clean install is basically faster than a lot of troubleshooting to solve this issue or not…
If then the Simulator running, then I will restore step by step my old configuration. For this i have time and I need not immediately alle my software and games.
Its running since yesterday. But now i have some grafic issues with my new GPU.
It was so easy with the GTX1070. All was great, except the performance at 3440x1440.
The FS2020 makes the VRAM full of the 6700XT and then came up water texture issues and tree flickering. But it runs with more fps than the GTX1070…
