Brief description of the issue:

Every time I load the sim, it brings up those 5 menus as if I am launching the game for the first time. The narrator is on and it asks me to set my initial settings. Some settings do save, like render settings, traffic settings etc, but most do not and every time I load the sim it gives me the initial page as if I’ve never loaded the game before.

Did you at any time set your usercfg.opt to read only?

No mate, i haven’t touched anything in the file explorer. Where is that?

This might be if on a location not the default one on C:\Your Profile\appdata\local\packages\Microsoftflightsimulator8xx, blah, blah. Location. Most if not all the config files are in folder there, some it seems might be stored online under your name/handle. I know I have uninstalled and reinstalled and the time between was 4 months, and it knew me and all my stuff from the get-go. SO even uninstall, something stays behind. A format of primary drive and reinstall of windows might cause this as well. Just guessing here.

Found it, its not Read only. It has a little Yellow padlock on the icon but i dunno what that is, but ive been into the properties and its deffo not read only.

If you haven’t found a fix, try opening the “TaskManager.”
Then click on the “Services” tab.
Find “GamingServices” and restart it.

Restart FS 2020 and see if that does something for you. I had the same issue.

Similar to this, if it doesn’t work - also check Microsoft Store for any update to Gaming Services and update if required.

Sign out of gaming services, sign out of Xbox app, restart pc then sign back into both.

I had this problem with SIM update 10 and this fixed it for me.

I did a mixture of @pwmacbert and @TingedTundra94 suggestions and its now working. Thanks guys, how amazing is it with these forums, don’t even have to bother Microsoft, you guys are the best

Glad you got it sorted.

How do you log out of gaming services? Just started having this bug and it’s driving me mad
